Just Marquette and Creighton going to the tourney this year? That's how it looks now. This is usually the case. Still, if one of the other top mid tier* teams goes on a tear starting now, an argument could be made. There's always the auto-bid scenario too. *This is really the crux of the issue. There's not really a clear 2nd tier in the Big East. It's Creighton/Marquette and then 6 teams who are not immune to upsets by the bottom 3. A clear second tier would create separation from the bottom and then you'd have a few teams at least in range of at-large.

Joanne Persico of St. John's showed up for the Creighton match wearing a referee's shirt (day after Halloween). A couple of years ago she dressed as a nun for a Halloween match.
How does everyone feel about that? On the one hand, it's supposed to be fun. On the other hand, I've never seen a coach in another NCAA sport do it.

I wish more coaches had personality like her.

The coaches dressed as a ref thing isn't new, and I have mixed feelings about it. It was more her (lack of) sideline demeanor that I thought needed reigned in and something other things the refs either ignored or failed to notice. I posted earlier about how I felt/what I thought happened. But the actual refs were a bit less than tuned in I think (lots of replays resulted in calls getting reversed, so no one lost a challenge card).

I think that Coach Persico wearing a Halloween costume was great. I was also impressed with how hard her team played. I was sitting three rows away from her and also agree with boxcariii that she was over the top with the side ref. I told my wife that (with her costume), I thought she would be in a GOOD mood.

Xavier at St. John's feels like a huge match tomorrow for both teams.
A Red Storm win puts both at 7-7 and tied in conference. A Musketeer win puts Xavier at 8-6, St. John's at 6-8, and Xavier would hold the H2H tie-breaker over the two teams since Xavier already won in Cincinnati.
DePaul at Villanova
A Nova win puts a bit of pressure on DePaul. DePaul still has Creighton/Marquette/UConn remaining. If DePaul wins, they should feel fine about making the B-E Tournament. Nova should be pretty nervous if they lose.
UConn just got swept by Seton Hall... Georgetown could make things really interesting by also beating UConn.
The 3-7 race in the Big East is pretty wild right now.

I think Xavier's basically out now. They still have Marquette/Creighton remaining. They already lose the H2H tie-breaker with Villanova.
UConn/St. John's/Villanova are all done with Creighton/Marquette and are all currently even or better than Xavier. DePaul still has Marquette/Creighton, but DePaul is a full two games in front of Xavier and DePaul has the tie-breaker anyway if it got there.

Just Marquette and Creighton going to the tourney this year? That's how it looks now. Marquette might be questionable to make it this year, but I could be wrong.
