Partain is nurturing an injury on his shoulder. Benesh has been training with different partners the last few weeks. Menesh is just starting practicing so they wouldn’t be 100% ready to compete. They will also be dropping their second place finish with their next tournament. So why travel to Doha, not being 100%, dropping your best finish to replace it with a 9th or even a 5th and risking an extended injury? Hearing fans thinking that there could be a behind the scenes several thousands pay out to have them drop is absurd given how much little money is involved in this sport. Also it would be unethical for any team and I assume there would be consequences if they got caught.

Menesh has only played twice in the last six months, both disappointing finishes, and they also dropped out of the most recent Elite 16 in Brazil. It should be a little concerning if Partain is having shoulder issues already at age 22 that don't seem to be related to overuse.

Isn't the Partain family rather wealthy? Never got the impression that Partain needs the $$$ from playing. No idea on Benesh.
Money changing handds is pretty conspiratorial and seems unlikely to me. Injury/points concerns is more reasonable.

The whole "behind the scenes" conjecture was fairly silly. It's almost like someone was looking to give Travis a legit reason to hate Volley Talk!

The whole "behind the scenes" conjecture was fairly silly. It's almost like someone was looking to give Travis a legit reason to hate Volley Talk! Maybe if Travis did his job as the top BVB journalist in the country and reported why Miles/Andy dropped out, while acknowledging how much it helps Trevor/Theo and also hurts Chase/Miles and Tri/Chaim, we wouldn't have to speculate. Volleyball World also has a degree of culpability here for creating a system that makes it too easy for teams to drop out or skip events. These Elite 16s are supposed to have all the world's top teams participating but very few of them actually do.

Even worse, this is a huge benefit to Theo/Trevor by allowing them to move directly into the main draw, and a significant setback for Chase/Miles and Tri/Chaim, who are trying to catch them in the Olympics points race. Andy and Miles must have known this, which makes you wonder whether there’s some sort of backroom deal between these teams. It’s people like you, and ridiculous claims like this, that make volleytalk the WORST place for anybody to get credible information on athletes and teams. Speculation? You just created an insane rumor with ZERO facts to back it up. You need to be banned!

Strategic withdrawals to benefit other teams or players or disadvantage rivals, players more or less throwing matches in KOB events, etc. It seems unlikely that Miles/Andy would do something like that to be sure but lets not act like it would be the first time something similar happened in BVB.

All the Karen's getting upset at TWO people WONDERING if there's some kind of backdoor deal. Lol.
Travis deletes comments and makes blanket statements. Who cares what he thinks.
Is he still doing his cringey fake laugh?

Miles and Andy are in line to qualify for their first Olympics in Paris. To suggest they might throw that away for a few bucks to benefit another USA team is absolute nonsense. Don’t start ridiculous rumors.

And they are guaranteed a 120 point bump in their Olympic points and potentially much, much more in both money and points. What little chances Chase/Miles and Tri/Chaim had to catch them are almost certainly dead now. If Andy and Miles didn't know that, it makes them look even worse. The rumor is that Miles has a shoulder injury that is serious enough to force them to withdraw three weeks before the event but not serious enough to keep them from practicing. Again, if you have evidence to confirm or refute this, please share!

Miles has an elbow issue which is back to normal now and he has been going to training with their staff. They didn’t want to rush back into competing this season and are getting everything lined up to be successful
