Louisiana ended Oklahoma's absolutely ridiculous 71-game winning streak.

Louisiana ended Oklahoma's absolutely ridiculous 71-game winning streak. Oklahoma opened its brand new field this weekend. One thing I found cool - the first home run didn't come from Oklahoma! In the top of the 1st inning of their first game this weekend, Miami(OH) hit a 2-run homer to go up early on OU. Miami-OH put up a good fight too, they were tied at 7 in the 7th inning but OU walked off with a 2-run HR to win the game 9-7. Miami-OH has been a better mid-major, but, this was a really good showing for them. As far as Louisiana - congrats to ULL, but, I am not a fan of them for many reasons. So, this one is only *meh* for me. Now I need to see that a team can beat Oklahoma twice -- because of the double-elimination tournament format. I'm very, very interested in the Oklahoma at Texas series in April.

Texas looking to take the series over Oklahoma. Up 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th. No one on for Texas so far this inning.

Katie Stewart's 2 run HR in the bottom of the 4th was the difference. Oklahoma just lost their first conference series since 2011.

Lol, I guess I just can't get that excited about the team that can finally beat Oklahoma being...Texas of all schools.

Texas State-Texas playing now.
Texas State is a good team - they are up to #14 in RPI, and already have T25 RPI wins over Texas A&M and Baylor, T50 wins over Penn State(x3), South Alabama(x2), and Texas Tech. I would like to see them host!
It seems though that Texas State and Louisiana-Lafayette will battle for a regional host spot as the two top teams in the Sun Belt and borderline seeds.

Lol. Lose to UVU and beat Oklahoma in the same week. Makes sense. Edit: first conference loss at home for the Sooners since 2017, apparently.

Part of the reason why it is traditional to play long seasons to increase the sample size. And why they traditionally use double-elim or best-of-seven type formats for tournaments.

Still kind of funny. And like I said, Oklahoma hadn't lost at home in conference in seven years. So probably ~60 consecutive wins. Edit: since BYU probably isn't making the tournament, this will likely be the high point of the season. Here are the highlights

BYU shortstop is a special player. Ailana Agbayani went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI, 1 run scored, two doubles, AND she pitched! Ok, she only pitched for two batters and got one out, but, it was a really important out because it kept the game tied at 4-4. Maybe some of you know her father? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Agbayani

I believe Agbayani is the best BYU player since Zavodnik.

There may be a current protest going on in the 8th inning of the Santa Clara-Incarnate Word Softball game.
SCU wanted a HBP, umpire initially ruled batter to stay in the box for (what I am assuming) 'leaning into it', they reviewed it, and then overruled the initial call and awarded the Santa Clara batter 1st base.
The umpires are literally being shown the rule book from the Incarnate Word head coach now.
(Update: I knew HBP was reviewable, but I didn't know leaning into was. Apparently it is. Replay overturn stands)
