I thought Hampton was great - her hitting percentage may not have been incredibly high, but her all around play, I believe, was extremely impressive, (even better if she really was sick). She kept some tough balls in play. And I agree about Engel, she stepped in front of about four of her teammates to turn someone else's average dig into a botched play. BUT - she does seem to have a tremendous amount of energy, and I'd rather have a player be willing to go all out instead of being afraid or tentative. McGinnis made Klinkenbourg look tremendous. That girl is drop dead gorgeous. Ummm.. anyway, I was really impressed by Florida - they are a very fun team to watch, with high energy, which is fun for your average vball fan. They seem to mesh very well. Can't wait to see how they match up in the NCAAs. They made a fan out of me while watching them. And for UT, Knytych, ooohhh, I saw her chest bump one of her teammates, I mean, who does that? Seriously. And that is all. Have a very nice day.

It's not as bad as it used to be, though. Find some matches from early last season, and she's running into and bouncing off her teammates like a pinball.

Marcie's not ill, she's fasting for Ramadan so she can't eat or drink until sundown. With an afternoon match, that's probably why she looked like she was sick. No fasting on game day, she was sick. Thanks for the info, Alberta. I do recall Mary saying on one of her shows that she would be fasting, but I'm glad to hear that she's not on gamedays. Hopefully she gets well soon. Don't need her or anyone else sick.

Watched the match on FOX. Florida is good but I don't think that they are the fifth best team in the land.

I also watched the game and overall Florida has some good players, but they seem to lack maturity as a team. Jane Collymore is senior this year yet she seems to carry herself like the first year I saw her play. Training with team USA seems to have helped her serving and passing alot, and while she is a great hitter, I'd just like to have a little more faith when she goes up to swing. I like Rhian Davis, her serve is awkward but effective and she moves with so much energy I wondered whther she was on crystal meth at times I don't mean to knock McGinnis, but she hasn';t reall impressed me. A lot of times she doesn't square to the ball and it affects the location on bad passes. Marcie Hampton had glimpses of goodness and then got stuffed a whole bunch, I am real big on consistency, and it just seems like most of the Florida players don't know 100% of what the outcome will be when they perform certain skills. Side note, Amber McCray looks just as athletic as ever and I'm glad her rehab went so well and she is definitely contributing.

You've still got to remember, Florida has 5 sophomores starting. For all intents and purposes, 3 of them are starting for the 1st time in their positions(Amber, Kari and Kisya). Amber saw very limited time in 2003, when Jacque was out. Kari was a reserve OH last year and Kisya played right side. Yes, they do have 2 seniors, but this is still a very young team and still learning. They are improving with each match and they are much improved from a year ago.
The thing with Jane is that she's a very quiet player. She's not emotional. It's not a lack of maturity, she's just not a leader in that sense. Engel and Rhian and Marcie are much more emotional. It's something they've tried to get Jane to be, but either you are or you aren't.

Like I said, not the fifth best team in the land, not now anyway!

I don't disagree with you. They are, however a top 10 team.

What other teams in the top 10 below Florida would you put above them? Not Minnesota, not Louisville, not Missouri, not Wisconsin, maybe Notre Dame (but I think Florida would beat them now).

I'd probably have them at 7, behind Missouri(their only loss is to Nebraska in 4 tight games) and Notre Dame, because they beat Florida(and I do hope they meet again). Minnesota you can make a case for as well. I do think Florida is as good, if not better than those teams, I'm just going based on resume. Some of the teams Florida beat early, are struggling now, so the wins don't look as good.

I don't disagree with you. They are, however a top 10 team. Agreed, but not any higher than that. Lots of athletic ability there but didn't look like a championship, FF calibre team. I have seen better teams at UF in the last 3 or 4 years that's for sure. Mary has some great athletes there though, no doubt about it!

Florida will be a final four team this year. They will be very tough in the NCAAs. I am sticking to my guns on this.

I don't disagree with you. They are, however a top 10 team. As long as Hawaii is top 9, yes.

I don't disagree with you. They are, however a top 10 team. Only by default.
