BiK, that's an amusing comment since you keep starting arguments aimed at Gator. I don't start it, I finish it with my superior intellect. Oddly enough Gator never said anything to you or IB until after both of you made comments to him in quoting his message. I guess "some people" might consider that as "not starting it". Oy...

I mean, IB still thinks Hawaii was better than Florida cause they scored more points in the loss.

I DO think Hawaii was better than Florida, but not because they scored more points (which they did).

Florida was the better team, they proved it. 2 years later and you still can't get over it.

Ummm, well I tend to believe that Hawaii was the better team. Although that should be expected. After all, I watched every match they played, just the way you saw Florida perform at every opportunity.
I don't believe that the one match told us anything about the relative strength of the two teams as the match was far too close. Each game was decided by slim margins (with the exception of the game that Hawaii won) and the total points scored in the match also show that it really was a battle. Neither team played as well as they could have, but that is to be expected with the level of talent on both sides of the net.
If I recall correctly, Mary Wise said that she felt that the best team that year was USC (stated before the Final Four). She went on to say that you don't have to be the best team in order to win the Championship, because you just have to beat the other team in ONE match. She said that if they had to play USC in a best of 5 (or something of the sort) that USC would definitely win the Championship. So, even your own coach acknowledged that one match doesn't deem your team "better" than the other. And with the scores as close as they were in the Hawaii-Florida semi, I don't know how such knowledgeable volleyball fans could come to the conclusion that one team was definitely better than the other.
I wish they could turn the semis into a best of 3 MATCH event and the Championship a best of 7. Now that would truly put an end to this type of bickering (yeah, right! lol).
Can't we just let this die, folks?

Perhaps you ought to do a bit more research before you start making assumptions, Gorf. Oy... volleytalk.proboards35.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1128815614&page=5

It's not a cheap shot when it's true. You also talked about CAL being better than Hawai'i. Cal got beat by Nevada, a team Hawai'i absolutely destroyed last night. The only true statement is that Florida is overrated! How can the Gators be ranked ahead of a team that swept them off of the court in 3 games?

The only true statement is that Florida is overrated! How can the Gators be ranked ahead of a team that swept them off of the court in 3 games? And yet that same Cal team took Washington to 5(Hawaii didn't even sniff a game), they swept UCLA(Hawaii didn't). So, you use matches that you like, but ignore the others. How can Hawaii be ranked, when LMU isn't? Hmm? I made the comment about Hawaii because, as always, you went after another team (Wisconsin) and saying they were terrible. No, I'm not a Wisconsin fan, but you need to be put in your place. Saying Wisconsin and Cal are overrated, when your own team is clearly overrated, is a bit pathetic.

I suppose gratitude is in order. For being so delusional and belligerent that everyone else seems sane and saintly in comparison, thanks Whine'hine fans!

The 2003 gator team beat hawaii without B Jenkins. How is their even an arguement to which team was better? In regards to the 2005 team I feel the team will find a way to get into the final four even if they do play Nebraska or Washington in the Elite 8.
