I agree that it is concerning that Hawaii wasn't able to take better advantage of the situation at hand. UCI played free and Henno went off and was able to get swing after swing because of the increased defensively capabilities of that particular line up. It made for a very entertaining match. That 6-2 lineup will never work as well again as it did last night. It was something Hawai'i wasn't prepared to see, and did a poor job of adjusting to on the fly. I think the 6-2 also kept the middles involved at all times since there was always a true setter setting the 2nd ball instead of a libero behind the 10ft line. UH could so the same with Tread and Kevin maybe even more effectively since they both can hit and are gigantic. But then that would take out Alaka’i. .. they could leave Kevin on the left and have him one spot behind Alaka’i in rotation.

The 4-2 (sort of dawned on me that it was more of a 4-2 than a 6-2, because it's not like Sheward and Karlous were viable attackers, Tread got more kills than both combined) wouldn't work at all for any team not UCI. With 1 less attacker, it puts all the more pressure onto a single, top offensive producer. Henno being able to be half of UCI's offense on his own is the only thing that made it possible. The idea of Hawaii trying to do it in the absence of their top offensive producer seems like a non-option.

If only Kai Rodriguez stuck it out a little longer he probably would have had his chance at playing time now. Goes to show you’re just an injury away and anything can happen. Definitely need to have someone step up and fill in for Spyros just so we have a chance at saving our season and post season hopes. On a side note, we won’t win these close matches down the road with how shaky our serve receive and passing is. As much as I support local players not sure Choy is ready to be that guy. You can see the difference between liberos from him versus our opponents this past weekend. He might not be Cole Power or even Mason Briggs but gotta hand it to the young man for giving his all day after day. Matthew Wheels comes into the program next season and he is a good one. We see what happens but Eleu is trying his best and that's all we can ask for rn. Kai R looks like he's still on the roster and I thought Sears would've made a splash with his USA pipeline experience but I guess not. Impressed with Wheels' passing. Wheels is able to get 20+ digs in some tough HS matches too wow!

Only now watched the replay. That was hard to watch I had to skip it when it got to the injury part. Hawaii held on tight and prevailed. Praying for Chakas and hoping this Hawaii team can rally because it only gets tougher from here on out. LBSU smells blood in the water and they are ready to bite. Hawaii gotta rally.

Having Shewie and Joe on the court brings so much ball control. Add Akhil and Power and Henno is enabled all over the court. That guy is a human recking ball. Then because the first touches are so controlled, blockers and defenders over adjust to prepare for Henno leaving the other attackers 1 on 1 or even with open looks. That happened many times last night and it can and should happen again. 🤷

To clarify, I think the probability of it working as well as it did last night would diminish as teams have time to plan for it and attack it. If Henno can take that many swings over the course of the next two seasons and hit over .400 with over half of his team's kills and still have good legs then he is not of the world.

Henno has a wide enough variety of swings to carry the team as the only attacker and it'll open a few random off points for Shewie's swing here and there. Henno also looks much more composed than previous seasons and rebounded from blocks or poor passes very quickly

Looks like a sprained MCL at a minimum. Hopefully no torn ACL.
