Update: I've been hearing from my sources that Zhu demanded conditions for her return to the China squad. Cai Bin apparently agreed to those conditions, whatever they may be. you can just check her weibo for the full story “Iwill not participate in any commercial activities or endorsements while with the national team. I will focus on recovering my physical fitness as quickly as possible to catch up with the national team. I will devote myself wholeheartedly to training and matches, working together with the team to secure qualification for the Paris Games," Zhu noted.

I am talking about the behind the scenes negotiation between Zhu and the Chinese federation.

I am talking about her real reasons for rejoining the NT.

Lmfao well I stand corrected then! Tbt to when Tainara was rumored to Vakif a few months ago She's not even starting over Monique these days. They're Kuznetsova or bust lol. This would be her second bad season in a row, right?

at the start of the year she was inserted several times by Jiangsu in their matches primarily as a serving sub. She got called to train with the NT in February after the CVL. oh, is it bad that i didn't count that She also played a few times as an OH sub towards the end of the season IIRC. She even scored a few points, but sample size was too small for me to judge anything.

Damn there’s that much opportunity for the 2nd setter? What a huge roster.

I love ZCN but I just don't see her making impact on this team but my guess is that she'll make the OG roster just in virtue of her past body of works in the NT and likeability.

Cai Bin doesn't have a lot of options at this point. The players, including those you mentioned, are just not competitive against the top teams at the moment. Zhu returning hopefully will give a boost to the team, but its still an uphill climb for them to deliver a decent performance at the VNL. It doesn't help that Cai Bin's coaching is also highly controversial for Chinese fans.

Now, if only Wang YL could be left out I think investing in the growth of Wu MJ/Wang YZ/Zhong Hui/Zhuang YS would be worthwhile for the future of China NT. As far as Zhang CN, I have faith she can get back into form at some point (still manifesting moving her to the right). I want my Zhu-Li-Zhang pin trio!

I find it difficult to imagine Zhu not playing entirely - probably at least the HK and Macau legs.

Damn there’s that much opportunity for the 2nd setter? What a huge roster. It should be Wolosz and Kowalewska. Wenerska did well last season but many other teams will be leveling up with other big names returning to their respective NT's. Having Smarzek back on the team makes them that much more dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised to see them medal at the Olympics which would be huge.

China not inviting Yao Di to set is a CHOICE. Ding Xia is still in the picture but I think Cai Bin is going to stick with Diao Linyu for some weird reason.
Having Zhu T. and Zhang C. back will be nice to see.
Did Zhang play professionally this past season in China? If so, what kind of form is she in?

We are at just under a month until first serve and we STILL don't have full rosters available up on the event site.
Ugh.
