I'm gonna speculate that Yewchuk leaving has more to do with him going back home to Canada than getting playing time at Hawaii. Everyone's just assuming that it was gonna be lack of playing time with who Hawaii has coming in the next couple of seasons. Yewchuk and his family was in Hawaii at least fhree years ago. He didn’t move to Hawaii just to play at Moanalua then go to UH. He attended my former Alma Mater Damien Memorial HS his )r year so he was not like Kai and Justin who moved from California and Texas, respectively to be closer to the program. Him and his family are from Canada so it’s going home to him but I see his dad and sister at the games so they are a big volleyball family. It is possible his family moved out here in hoping to get Yack into UH easier but I don’t know. Sometimes we can kinda sense why. The talk of Aruya coming in. The hype of Ofeck. Then next season there is someone like Roman Payne. It’s kinda like the women’s program when an insider announced potentially 3 transfers including a player who was freshman of the year at the D2 level then a returning OH who only has one year left in a battle for PT, announced her transfer. Of course nothing is 100% but sometimes it’s pretty obvious.

With all these changes, we're going to need a roster to know who's on our team next season. Barring any further portal transfer announcements, we have a mere 8 returnees from last season : Rosenthal, Nusterer, Sakanoko, Taylor, Choy, JT, Parks, Thompson plus 9 incoming players with 3 more on the way. The A and B teams should be stacked!

If you honesty take a look at this past year’s roster, we were not very deep or the gap between the A and the B team might have been huge.
Our backup MBs were both walk ons. One is Thompson….who is listed at 6-2. Our backup OHs either Thiim or Ottmar, were also walk ons. Sakanoko was the only player that had a legit future. When Ottmar left, I think the next man up would have been Kai Taylor who will probably transition to libero. We did not have a very good bench.
Charlie needs to remedy this situation and not just have studs as starters but have legit players off the bench too. It’s obvious hard to do since everyone want to play but this season showed that having a good bench is key. We will never match the depth of UCLA but we need to have at least one legit backup at each position to push each other and in case of injury.
We definitely saw the drop off when Spyros was injured. I think we would have been equally devastated if Voss or Nusterer was injured since the next man up would have been Parks or Thompson. If Alakai was to get injured, Oguz was the next man up. Not a pretty sight.
Not a good situation to be in. The overhaul of the roster need to be made and we need to fill the roster with a bunch of legit D1 level players and not roster fillers.
LBSU wasn’t every deep either but they had two legit reserves on those bench in Nathan Harlan and Lazar Bouchov. They also had a guy like Godbold who was a senior and could play OPP and OH. Our reserves were all walk ons with the exception of Louis. None had much PT.

The B team MBs are not legit D1 high level players. We do need at least Aruya to make me feel good. Parks or Thompson are not going to push Kurt nor Ofeck but Josh Aryua on the team will definitely raise the level up a couple of notches.

If Hawaii wants to stay competitive, and remain a Top 5 Team, and be in the conversation for the National Championship Title, Charlie Wade needs to make sure Not Only the Hawaii A Team, but also, the B Team is competitive at the D1 Level. This is what Charlie Wade seems to be doing. Re-stocking the A Team, but at the same time also, re-stocking the B. If you look at the last 2 Hawaii National Championship Teams, the B Team was just as strong as the A Team was. Not so much this past Volleyball season. There was a Big Drop-off between the A Team and B Team.

Louis will need to work like a dog this off season to get that OH1, especially with Weiter coming onboard. Viewed various Lindenwood matches vs MIVA opponents and he looks like a solid all around LS hitter. Kinda in a Rosenmeier mode but supersized and more lethal. We'll see.

We need battles….Wieter vs Sakanoko……Roure vs Finn/Justin Todd….Titriyski vs Finn/Justin Todd …Ofeck vs Kurt vs Aruya….Wheel or Taylor vs Choy. Tread will get some competition with Victor but I see Victor maybe maybe a serving sub for the time being.
Bottom line…I just think this coming years team will have more battles but maybe not as good since we will lose 2 AAs in Voss and Spyros but maybe more balanced and maybe more depth. Thus could be the year where the B team could beat the A team at any time.
Versatility could be key also with guys like Finn, JT and Louis being able to play both OH and OPP. This will allow for the best 7 to be on the floor.
