Is club ball that bad in Hawaii right now? People keep talking about High School when HS school ball means little. Just because it’s the stuff fans have the most access to, viewership wise, doesn’t mean that’s where he is going to be doing the most of his developing. The Boys Club season is twice the length of the the boys High School season, at least it is in California. The difference between Wade and Tread who also graduated early is that Rosenthal played for one of if not the top clubs in the country, had multiple years of international experience, his position was the most needed one by the program, and he was PHYSICALLY very developed young man. Whereas Kainoa has none of that to his name and still has the game of a talented tall young boy. I don’t doubt that he will benefit from competing against better more physical players in college within the UH gym but I think it’s equally valid that finishing out his last year of high school would be a fine choice and I don’t think we should be dismissing the thoughts of those who think the same thing. At the end of the day it is his, his family’s, and the coaching staff’s choice. We won’t know until the end his career or when he starts playing regularly what the best choice was. Well the idea of him staying in high school one more year is null and void because he is coming whether people want it to happen or not. So I'm not sure why people continue to bring it up when he is already on his way to UH and it's clear as day. I agree, no one knows if he made the best decision until after his career is over. But I find it oddly hilarious that people are not even giving him the chance to prove himself and he hasn't even stepped foot in Manoa yet. I don’t think it’s about people not giving him a chance to prove himself, I think it’s the fact that he’s just coming in as likely one of the more underdeveloped players to graduate early and be a part of their college team in some time. It’s great that a local boy is chasing his dreams and has big goals for himself but there’s nothing wrong with voicing the obvious obstacles ahead of him.

Dan Friend mentioned on Rob's podcast that Oguzhan Oguz is heading to Mount Olive That’s probably a better fit for him, I don’t think I saw one good swing out of him all season.

For those interested, Buchanan to eiva, Ottmar to mpsf, other three are undecided. Congrats to those men! I hope they see the court more as they've waited a long time.

That kid has been in the program a long time. I was looking forward to seeing him on the court and seeing what he could have been able to do. The kid is athletic. I wish him nothing but success at wherever he goes.

I maybe in the minority but I actually feel Wade staying in high school would’ve been better for the program… spreading the talent out more.. he could’ve red shirt in 2026.. freshman in 2027 with our Bulgarian opposite being a junior.. Pure speculation, but I think it's worth mentioning. Charlie turns 61 this year. While I don't know if UH staff get any kind of discount for their kids to attend UH, it would be beneficial for the Wade family if Kainoa enrolls early. Even if Kainoa redshirts in his first year and assuming Charlie works until Kainoa graduates, it would put Charlie at 66 years old. Another year in high school and a redshirt year at UH for Kainoa just prolongs retirement for Charlie. .....a quick break from the Kainoa discussion but.... Dang! I didn't realize that Coach Charlie was in his 60s. I remember going to the Wahine camps when I was very young and how intense he was compared to Dave. He is a fantastic and storied coach that has had his hand in the careers of many great players.

So how many guys are leaving now? It feels like this is a record for the team. I don’t know if this is a good thing/ look or bad one for the program.
It felt like bench was already thin this season and with more guys leaving, that bench is depleting fast. One injury away of having this season’s dejavu

Koa said could have up to 12 new faces to replace the 7 transfers & 5 grads

Honestly Roure has the potential to be the next Henno in the NCAA not because he's also French, but because of his all-around game. I'll settle for another Spyros. Henno has the advantage of being a 6-8 lefty playing OH. Not too many of those around so he was hard to block. Spyros was on his way to a POY award prior to his injury so I'll take a Spyros clone gladly. I just realized that the last 3 POY were international kids. Nikolov, Thelle and now Henno. Next year Sakanoko? 👍 Add Rado as POY in 2021.

I'm gonna speculate that Yewchuk leaving has more to do with him going back home to Canada than getting playing time at Hawaii. Everyone's just assuming that it was gonna be lack of playing time with who Hawaii has coming in the next couple of seasons.
