Good to hear about the Bobcats looking to join the MPSF. Though I was hoping they would join the Big West.
Oh well, come on Banana Slugs. LOL

I heard this maybe 6 or 8 months ago and thought that there was mention on a thread here too... they haven't been very competitive but they are getting better slowly and getting some recruits with potential, D2 status can only help. I am curious if there is any reason that the MPSF wouldn't let them in. With Vangaurd, Menlo and CI it is going to be the most lopsided conference but at least CI will have some more competitive conference matches. Also curious how the schedule/travel will work if UCM is added to the MPSF, Menlo and Stanford are obvious travel partners, 3 matches in one trip likley too much, do teams want to travel to UCM to play one match or will they just play a tight weekend schedule and assume they can depend on the bench against Menlo and UCM?

Don't forget that Jessup University has transitioned to D2 and is joining the MPSF this year. They could be a travel partner with Merced, although Merced and Rocklin are about a 2-3 hour drive from each other. When you include Jessup and Merced, there would be 5 D2 schools along with the 5 D1 schools in the MPSF. It will be interesting to see which of the D2 programs might break into the top half of the conference over time.

Yes I know it says it in their press release, but that's not what it sounded like in Orlando.

My understanding is they will join the MPSF in 2025-2026, but they have scheduled a number of MPSF teams this year. The soonest Merced would join is 2026-2027, at least according to that news release someone posted earlier.
