In any case Wade should have given Kauling a chance instead of sticking with his prized recruit. Tread needed to earn his playing time not be handed the reigns through thick and thin. Especially when you have an all american in Kauling sitting on the bench. He should have but he didn't. I agree that Tread needed to bench more often to see what Kauling could do out there but tbh how much of an impact would he have made? Most of our losses this season have been our inability to serve inbounds in crucial moments, passing and having that elite pin hitter in crunch time. Right! Even as cringe as Treads setting has been over the season....he still set Hawaii to over a .300 hitting percentage. Now if he can clean up a bit of things....watch out the potential is endless.

IMO Charlie wasted Kauling’s senior season. Makes you wonder how many other all american transfers will hesitate to come here seeing how charlie wade doesn’t mind “wasting” their final season. Even when Presho transferred he only got mop up duty sitting behind Hogland and Voss. Now add Kauling to that list.

I would have given Kauling more of a shot but at this point...the goal is to train the young frosh that will be your setter for the next 4 years. So you make um deal with the highs and lows so that young man learns to deal with the responsibilities placed on him.

Bravo to both of Hawaii's star freshmen, Louis and Tread!
They stepped into some big shoes early and delivered. I can't even imagine what it must've been like to step into the shoes of All-Americans, in front of some endearing and some crazy fans, and show out.
For all of his ups and downs, Hawaii is blessed to have had Louis' services this season, especially when Spyros went down and with Chaz nursing some injuries. He was immediately looked upon to provide the offense from the pin and I think he gave it an honest attempt and did well.
Tread took over for probably Hawaii's most legendary setter and was great all year. Like all players, he had his moments where he struggled, but it's hard to be a setter running the show for a team in a program that expects big things. Hawaii is also blessed to have Tread!
Finally some much needed aloha for Hawaii's local boys, Keoni, Alaka'i and Eleu.
Keoni was fabulous this year and did whatever he could to step up in Spyros' absence. He ended up being the 2nd most efficient pin after Spyros at only 6 ft. He has so much heart and epitomizes what I believe a Hawaiian Warrior is. Also, I just love the sound of an underdog rising to the occasion!
Alaka'i put me in my place. I never thought much of him, even when he was younger during his prep years. But he came out and was steady for his team and provided some much needed maturity! I'm not sure what happened this evening but regardless, tonight's match doesn't encapsulate and convey all the hard work, sacrifice and most of all the patience that Alaka'i displayed. I'm proud of you, Alaka'i.
Finally Eleu, who I couldn't stand at first (lol!). Talk about giving it an honest go and coming from being very subpar to holding down his position well. I don't have the numbers, but I think he passed very well this season and even got better with his floor defense and reading as the season progressed.
GO BOWS!

This has to be the worst coaching job Charlie Wade and his coaching staff have done in years. Please, people quit calling Tread Rosenthal a prized recruit. He is NO Prize Recruit, the way he has played this year. He was so erratic in his decision making, and setting location, it is not funny. The worst Setter a Hawaii team had in a long time. oh lord, wahinefan I feel like you just trolling. Tread beat out a 4th year AND 5th year/All-American. Also, the first true frosh setter to start 90% of matches for the Warriors in more than 20 years

Nah Presho got chances early on but just couldn't solidify his position and got outplayed pretty clear.

It was gifted to him by Charlie Wade. If Tread Rosenthal had to earn the Starting Setter position, he would not have been the Starting Setter, this entire season.

Really hoping we got Amir Tizi-Oualou. Someone needs to stare Tread in the eye and threaten his starting spot, he's not gonna get better without that. And if Amir overtakes Tread I'll take that too. Honestly at this point I am kind of hoping it's him and not Seddik, even if Kurt does turn pro.

I am happy for Shewie, he really stuck it to Charlie Wade. Shewie proved he is the better Setter, then anything Hawaii has. Charlie Wade made the worst decision he has ever made, NOT turning the setter position over to Shewie at the end of last season.
