ok, now maybe they should move up the match time an hour, lol
Hitting % and Opp Hitting % in conference.
Beach: 0.329 hitting, and 0.251 opp Irvine. 0.321 hitting, and 0.282 opp
Blocking: Beach 2.89 bps, IRvine 2.21 bps
Serving: Irvine: 1.56 aces ps, Beach 1.29
Flexen got subbed out quick last night for Irvine, and would seem to be one of the wild cards for Irvine
will see how neutral , and large, the crowd is. with Sheward on Irvine, expect mostly pro Irvine (or maybe anti Beach) tilt. they'll probably want just good volleyball and hiss some at Knipe when he stalls and works the refs. maybe Wade shows up to toy with the noise amplification system just for kicks when Beach is serving. now that would be funny
was a neat presser afterwords for Beach and Siapanis discussion about Chakas - good background on those two

May the best team win but the neutral crowd will prolly be cheering for Irvine because of Shewie. On the other hand there’s a local boy from moanalua on the beach team and many of his relatives and friends will prolly be in the stand to cheer for the beach.
My first time watching Beach on tv this season and am impressed with Varga. Is he one of the new recruits?

Just watched that presser available at the BW site bigwest.org/That was cool to hear about he and Chakas friendship. The one thing I want to see from the Beach tonight is having that look of a champion the entire match. So many big games late this season, it takes a set and a half or so to get there, or some early back against the wall stuff to bring it out. I hope they bring it from the opening serve. Should be a great match, the crowd will be decidedly pro Irvine. Hope it goes 5 so I'm up till midnite.

Siapanis and Chakas knew each other in Greece?
Beach deep bench is impressive. Knipe and the coaching staff must be doing something good for they stick around even if they’re just gonna be reserves.

What's with the kisses, Beach? You make your team look so European. Just like professional women's tennis, it should be mandatory for volleyball players to have clean shaven armpits. It does not look nice on TV when they raise their arms.

beach in 3, they seem to be rolling. Will be interesting seeing them on a neutral court after splitting home wins last week. Both teams showed some up and downs last night but I feel evenly matched, but all depends on how much Beach can contain Henno.

Do you guys think Henno plays today? Let's be real, his eye was swollen, pretty badly at that. He iced it and got back into the game, but that stuff gets way worse over the night. (Black eyes usually form over the next couple of days). I guess it depends and obviously UCI's team is doing everything they can to get him into playing condition, but if his eye flares up overnight that's a no go.
And that before even considering the possibility of concussion protocol. As people have mentioned, that Semis round all but decided the at large. Now that UCI's position in the NCAAs is all but locked, pulling him to rest and for safety concerns might be the call.

I'll be in the 30,000 feet up while this match is going on but I hope that both teams play a great yet safe match! I have a soft spot for the Anteaters so a win by them would make me happy!
But the Beach have an air of confidence about them. From the beginning of the season, the apparent increase in physical fitness, strength and speed showed fans that this team put in work during the offseason for times such as this. They are hungry for a conference and national title!
GO BIG WEST!

Given how he was cleared to play again last night, I think he’ll be fine. Take some ibuprofen for the headache and hopefully he’ll be fine

The wild card will be how much UCI gets out of Flexen/Tangatur, and if Beach passing holds up. Beach likely the favorite, but UCI is very capable of taking Beach down away from the Pyramid.

I didn’t think the Beach played that well last night, tonight they bring it and win in 3! Hope I’m wrong!

Briggs was off at the match in Irvine. as the season has gone on Briggs takes on more serves. if for whatever reason he backs off a bit and Beach is more passive receiving, they get in trouble. If Briggs is on, and he usually is, this Beach team wins. Irvine will serve better tonight than at the Pyramid, and if Beach handles that, they'll win.
