I think if we do look closely at games and final stats we will see that Mr T didn’t play much when McKendree swept Ball St early on and Pasteur sat when Lindenwood beat OS. These better players were used sparingly or not at all when rest was needed for more important games. I’m guessing this is why the MIVA appeared competitive at times. That doesn't fit his narrative, though. He can talk, because he watches the game and knows when the best players are out or not.

Theres the issue right there, looking at just the stats. Watching the game, Mr T playing @ Mckendree got shut down. He was then pulled and later put BACK IN to try and get going again but he couldn’t. Mckendree sweeps Ball state again if they had their starting lineup. Pasteur did sit with injury and he was even sitting when they lost the first match to Penn State (I believe he played second one). That hasn’t even been mentioned yet because I bet not a bunch of people tuned in for it.

I'm from the Midwest and watched more MIVA than any West Coast volleyball. All you did right here is reiterate that MIVA teams had opportunities to get big wins and didn't. Excuse them any way you want, but if you want to move up in the rankings and get at large bids, you have to win some big matches at some point. The MIVA teams didn't. Was there not some West Coast bias when Loyola, Lewis, and/or Ohio State were being ranked at the very top of the rankings, getting at large bids in the NCAA Tournament, and winning national titles? Why do you think that bias is there now, when it wasn't then? By the way, Ohio State wasn't even competitive with GCU last night. But I'm sure there's an excuse for it, and that Lindenwood would've hung just fine with the likes of GCU and UC Irvine this year. Lol. Please, keep claiming the NCAA is fine spending money on men's hockey but won't do so for men's volleyball. I'm from the West Coast and watch it all. MIVA is not as deep as CA schools. I explained all of the injuries that occured with the MIVA this year, but you would know since you watched them all. Since multiple people keeping bringing up when OSU and Loyola were winning the tourney let me explain a couple of things to you. There was no Big West then, just MPSF. 6 teams in the tourney and it was usually (2) MPSF, (2) MIVA, (1) EIVA, & (1) Conf. of Carolinas. At larges hasn't increased still, and lately it is usually (2) MPSF, (2) Big West, (1) EIVA, (1) MIVA, (1) SIAC, (1) Conf. of Carolina. It is impossible for MIVA or EIVA to get a 2nd team right now because voters don't move the teams out of the top 10, period. If you are supporting Stanford staying at #6 going 2-11 then you are part of the problem. Also Boys High School Volleyball is the fastest growing sport. 10 years ago there weren't as many teams or players playing. There is more parity now more than ever and that is why it will be good to at least get to 12 teams soon. 25-23 first set for OSU vs GCU is not competitive? I'm not sure how much more competitive a set can be winning by 2 points, but you let me know. Credit to GCU, they played great and OSU faltered near the end set 2 and got worked set 3. Their eperienced showed and were the better team yesterday. Hockey vs Mens Volleyball NCAA - Do you know how many shcolarships are in Mens Volleyball and Hockey. Of course you don't. Mens Volleyball receives 4.5 and Hockey 18. Hmm do the math. Do you know how the Hockey tournament works? Of course you don't. (4) different regions of (4) teams playing 2 matches. Winner of each region then goes to the semi finals (Final four) and then the championship game in the same area. All travel, lodging etc paid for by the NCAA. Big difference I see is if you did this for Mens Volleyball you are not making any money with ticket sales like they do in Hockey. Shouldn't it be about the student athletes though and that opportunity to play for a National Championship?

You are exactly right on what happened. The same happened when McKendree swept Loyola of Chicago at home. I watched that match. Hawks pulled his players beacuse they got worked. I'm guessing you and I might be the only ones to know how to stream a McKendree match on GLVC netowork.

Congrats to all awarded! Special shout out to Voss for ending his career as another AA. And Tread our young gun at setter only to improve! And Alakai....what else can you say about him? This dude was literally behind two different 1st Team All Americans (Rado and Dimi) his entire career but had the patience to still wait his turn in his 6th year with the program. And boy did he perform when he needed too. Many including myself underestimated his abilities but he proved me wrong and then some! Congrats Alakai! All the best in your endeavors! Yes and amen about Alaka'i! I'm excited to see Tread make the list as well. Congratulation are in order for Voss who closes an incredible career at Hawaii. G finishes his time at Hawaii as a career .510 hitter as well as being in the top 5 in blocking.

Shouldn't it be about the student athletes though and that opportunity to play for a National Championship? Correct. A sweep is not competitive. Especially when two of the sets are -21 and -20. You can try to spin things any way you want. You're just wrong. What does the number of conferences have to do with Ohio State, Loyola, and Lewis all being ranked in the top 3 in previous years? They weren't ranked that high because there were fewer conferences. They were ranked that high because they actually beat some high level teams and deserved to be ranked that high. Also, you do realize that coaches and media polls have absolutely zero to do with NCAA selection criteria, right? Stop crying about it. It doesn't matter whatsoever in selecting who makes the NCAA Tournament. Stanford was never in contention for an at large bid. But I do agree that they shouldn't have been ranked highly. They did, however, have no issues beating Loyola back to back nights, beating Penn State, and beating Ball State. But hey, you think Loyola and Ball State would've done just as well out west as GCU and UC Irvine did this year, so more power to you. Hilarious that you keep crying about Stanford, when Stanford went 3-0 against the top 2 teams in the MIVA that you're crying about not getting enough credit or not having a fair shot to "move up in the rankings" or get an at large bid. What are the roster sizes of a hockey team vs. a volleyball team? Do you think the NCAA is paying these scholarships? Because they aren't. By the way, it's funny you think you're the authority on hockey, claim somebody else doesn't know how the Tournament works, and then call it hockey "matches" lol.

Teams get better or worse throught the year. Thought it was dumb for Loyola to play Stanford coming back from Hawaii I believe. When you have potentially the next USA Volleyball Oppo on your team, Parker Van Buren, yes Loyola can beat anyone. I was surpised they didn't win the MIVA tournament, but that is on them. Would like to see volleyball use NET rankings instead, but I'm just happy we hopfully get to 12 teams next year. There is good volleyball being played everywhere. I don't follow hockey at all, but have always thought it was a good compairson for men's volleyball. Funny on a volleyball board you would think I would have support. You are really happy with all of the teams that are left out of the playoffs? I believe there are (6) confernces in hockey so they get (10) at large selections? Just a guess, but volleyball has been at (2) forever. Had to look it up, but it says roster size for hockey is 25-28 players. Guessing mens volleyball is around 20 except for Lewis who have like 30 if you have ever seen their bench during a home game. And yes the NCAA contributes to the scholarships. Google is your friend, look it up. You think the NCAA with their TV revenue just keeps it all, $1B+? No they support schools, conferences and nearly 500K student-athletes.

Google is your friend, look it up. You think the NCAA with their TV revenue just keeps it all, $1B+? No they support schools, conferences and nearly 500K student-athletes. It would be great to have the Tournament include a few more teams, but honestly each year there's usually 2 teams that can realistically win it all, and maybe 2 others that if things break right or they play their absolute best volleyball of the season and their opponents only play their C game they could pull it out. I don't think Hawaii (in the state they were to end the year), Loyola, BYU, Stanford, Ball State, or Pepperdine really had any shot of winning a national title this year. So yes, it would be fun to have one extra round and see those teams get a chance to win a match in the Tourney, but I really don't think it changes who is going to win this year's national title. UCLA and LBSU have been the two best teams all year, on a level of their own, with GCU and UCI at a level where, when things go right, they can compete with UCLA and LBSU. Hawaii when healthy was on the UCLA and LBSU level, but were well below the GCU and UCI level at the end of the year. And yes. Schools get money from the NCAA, largely from things like the men's NCAA basketball Tournament and CFP. But it's up to those schools how to use that money. If they want to use it to pay a football coach $9MM a year they can. If they want to use it to give the student athletes the best housing they possibly can they would.

I think the coaches fumbled with Pasteur on 2nd team. It was his best season by far where he passed a 2.3 on the year and made the opposing teams pass a 1.55 or something.

As a MIVA supporter, unfortuantley one of the best setters in the nation was left of the list, Tyler Poulsen. MIVA screwed him, by not giving him 1st team MIVA due to injury in the last (3) games is my guess. He played all conference without his OH1 and (3) different Opposites. McKendree was in 3rd place when the injury occured and the team was playing great. They probably maintain 3rd place with him in and changes the outcome of the MIVA tournament IMO. Dan Mangun was probably in the same situation. Injured at the beginning of the year and then finally put back in the lineup during MIVA play and turned that team around. (3) setters from the MIVA get HM All American and Poulsen and Mangun left off? I guarantee if you asked all of the MIVA coaches who was the best setter and most important to their team, Poulsen would have been the answer. Voters are not going to go stream McKendree matches and see who is this Poulsen kid. Top 5 in assists per set during the last (2) regular seasons with such a young team and all of the injuries the past 2 years. His decision making, ball control, vision, is as good as anyone in the country. He should be part of USA Volleyball. Men's Volleyball has been West Coast Biased or MPSF and now Big West for years. Lots of parity now and maybe one day we will get a (16) team touranment similar to Men's Hockey. Looking at the last rankings it would have been a fun tournament. That is a whole nother post / category! please provide source of bias? was it biased from 2014-2017 when the MIVA won championships? when the MIVA & EIVA combined have 7 to 8 of the top 10 teams regularly, then I think you'd see so called 'bias' go away. Penn State beat one top 10 team, . Ohio State. Ohio State beat one top ten team. I'm struggling to find where teh bias is only 4 coaches (out of 13) are from west of the ROckies on the committee, so are those coaches east of the rockies also biased to the west coach teams, that would be odd that they would have bias. how is biased being introducted? recency bias? familarity bias? (with only 4 out of 13 coaches), any other type of bias maybe ask those 9 coaches why they are biased towards the western teams perhaps? and I think Ohio State has a legit shot to make the finals and win the NC, but maybe I'm biased Not argument on bias just correcting this to note GMU beat UCI this year. Adding my own new comment that the number of athletes on these lists is out of control. Back in the day we, had a POTY, 6 or 7 first team, 6 or 7 2nd team an,d 3-4 on the HM list.
