She's a bad person and a good volleyball player. So what? Nebraska volleyball is there to win matches, not to make these athletes into nuns. That's what parents and therapists are for. No one cares if she stole a couple of rings. Not like most people have never stolen anything in their lives. Leave it alone and just let her play volleyball. No one is really bothered if she DUI'd or stole some meaningless junk from a store. I think most of us just want to see her match up against Texas again. Maybe I'm misreading the room but am I right or wrong on this one?

After joining volleytalk right after the news broke last month. I don't need to explain. i've been around for a long time. my mother died at the hands of a college student DUI, so i'm not going to sit down and have this happen to anyone again. now get off my back. Lol. Yeah ok, sure, a well adjusted individual fighting for a cause doesn’t go on a message board to obsessively target and vilifiy a 19 year old—and not that you’d understand, but the frontal lobe (decision making, inhibitory control/impulsivity) of someone still in their teens has yet fully developed. But if your sob story of dead mother were true, then I’ll veer away from science and sounds like it was god’s plan and punishment for bringing a piece of work like you into this world.

It's not that people don't care (or shouldn't care) about what she's done--there's obviously something going on with her in her life--it's that people can try to separate the volleyball from the personal.

Obviously these players hold a lot of influence on young volleyball players and it’s setting a terrible example and reputation for Nebraska VB imo. Sure I wanna see her against Texas again (hook em) but when these players have 100k+ followers - things are going to be received differently.

WTF. have you moral compass? student athlete on scholarship = free education on tax payer money, role model for young volleyball players, represented usa volleyball, she is being paid $ for NIL, college athletes are held to a higher standard. let her play volleyball in the jail she'll be in but not at the cost of lives, taxpayer money, and the reputation of the best volleyball program!

HM did not kill anyone. Her actions have brought shame to herself. She will be required to face legal consequences like anyone else. Her NIL income has been negatively impacted. She needs to straighten herself out, or her career is at risk. Quit making this about your mother, it is not. Just the facts, maam...

One thing is for sure: HM has undeniable star power. Three UCLA basketball players got arrested for shoplifting something way more expensive, in a different country AND the president got involved—yet she all by herself got a whole lot more people upset.
