In a world in which college football and basketball have become all about transfers, me-me-me, and who can gather the most attention; I have been proud that volleyball is more pure and much more about team and not self. I have found VB - Adrenaline a source that is taking page after page from the football / basketball social media playbook. Some posts are great. Many stir the pot and add to the rush to make college decisions. As a parent and club coach - I think our kids need less pressure and hype from the outside money-makers. I don’t think athletes need a forum to polarize transfers and the focus on what schools a high school freshman or sophomore are focusing on. Then again, there is a right to list whatever you like - just like I did.

First, I have no idea who runs VB adrenaline. But I actually think it’s cool how they highlight players and teams, not just teams! I don’t think that makes things less pure by any means.
I also appreciate that they’re helping advocate for the players like their recent tweet about changing the official visit date.

I remember seeing a series on mental health discussed. I like that they seem to go beyond the "rankings" and also draw attention to the actual athlete when they do their interviews with current club players.

I heard the main guy Darren is new to volleyball - has a football background.

Call me out of the loop, but I've never heard of VB Adrenaline.
Kudos to the OP for spreading the word on VT, I'll check 'em out!

Maybe one day someone like this could come up w/ true rankings. That actually make sense?
Not the word of mouth rankings or social media rankings true analysis from someone who’s played the game or plays the game just a thought,
I see rankings by prep volleyball and prepdig and go watch a kid they have ranked and lshake my head because it’s so far off!! But the voice of the club sure does like the player!!

But the voice of the club sure does like the player!! I don’t think you have to necessarily play the game to do talent analysis. You do have to watch a lot of film and in person matches, know what to look for in terms of athletic gifts, when someone has mostly maxed out and when they have potential to improve, both physically and in terms of skill level. I think the big problem with the bigger publications is that in part they’ve lost their way a bit. I know it’s hard to run a business, cover your overhead and make a revenue figure that makes it feel like it’s worthwhile, but there are shortcuts that can be taken that raise revenue in the short term but compromises a company’s product. It feels like that’s the path the bigger publications have chosen.

Some posts are great. Many stir the pot and add to the rush to make college decisions. Which posts do you think are great? Which posts do you think "stir the pot and add to the rush to make college decisions?"

I'm tired of seeing people complain volleyball doesn't get enough attention, then upset when they get this type of coverage. If we want volleyball to be a major sport then these discussions need to be had in public forums. It's up to parents to have conversations with their kids about when is the right time to commit. Why is it on this random guy to worry about who commits where and when?
Same deal, our college women need to be handle being evaluated both positive and negative on these forums as well. It's part of the deal. To many volleyball fans want these players handled like delicate children. If they want the coverage and NIL money like the big sports they are going to need more eyeballs covering every angle of the sport.

I don’t think athletes need a forum to polarize transfers and the focus on what schools a high school freshman or sophomore are focusing on. Then again, there is a right to list whatever you like - just like I did. I think this is missing the mark. Potential gender specific attributes notwithstanding, I think the reason why you see more "me-me-me, and who can gather the most attention" from college football and basketball is because the U.S. has a lucrative professional league for those sports and everyday people care about those sports to the point where being attention seeking means a lot of endorsement opportunities. College football and basketball players are incentivized to be selfish because there is a dependable market here in the U.S. where the baseline is their athletic skill but their individual brand can skyrocket monetary reward. Womens volleyball has not had that. College football and basketball, the NFL, and the NBA have combined revenues in the tens of BILLIONS of dollars every year. Even the pinnacle of womens college volleyball - Nebraska - produces revenue that is little more than a rounding error for what the larger football/basketball apparatus in the country commands. I would proffer that there already is and has been a more inherently attention seeking aspect in womens college volleyball... I mean, do we really think that many of these athletes going to Texas or Nebraska aren't doing so for the individual attention? And as NIL money becomes more prolific within the college ranks, more people start to care about volleyball, and certainly if a marketable and profitable professional league can jump off, I can almost assure you that we will start seeing a lot more "me-me-me, and who can gather the most attention" from womens volleyball players, high school and in college. It's all about the money. And if the aforementioned things do happen, volleyball will surely shift, and some people that found value in the sport of the past may stop following, but it will be offset by the newcomers that have different priorities and perspectives of the game.
