BIG WIN moreso than anything, the vibes are back. gotta keep it going against Japan! maybe we sneak into the finals if other results go our way, but honestly I just wanna finish the week on a 3-match win streak against 3 good teams going into the Olympics We have to root for Cuba and Serbia to lose and Bulgaria to take at least a set against Argentina. Please Gawd I hope USA make the finals.

I really like that the men are gutting it out even though it's not perfect out there. I hope to see them in the finals and would like to see them finish this week off with an emphatic win over Japan.

first match against Iran, he is disaster; second match against Brazil, he scored 9 points in five sets; and this third match so far, I feel bad for TJ and Matt. Why Garret can go to Olympics? Why Speraw likes him so much? Not a fan either, but who would they take instead of Garret? Also, Ensing is at VNL and there are countries that have 15 better Oppos than Ensing Speraw could definitely trying to develop Ewert after tokyo, but he has blind faith in Garret. A defensive OH should not hit negative, and his passing today is not solid considering he is a defensive OH. He literally sucks. Ensing is the same, Speraw loves him. That is what I can think of the only reason. I don't know what he provides to the team. He is one of the most disastrous oppos in the world ,along with other US oppos.

Why not let TJ play on the right and Matt on the outside? Seems like what we are doing now just doesn’t work against the best teams so would be worth it to try some new looks in these games that are less important before Paris. I agree, and was going to post the same thing

Yes, his offense was nonexistent but I thought his serve receive was decent and he chipped in a good amount of digs with 7, only to be outdone by Shoji who had 14. He could be better but he was enough today to help his team get the win.

I don't think Ewert has the ability to help stabilize things from a ball control perspective for the US just yet. Plus his attitude can get a little stink at times.

Imagine if Kelsey Cook hit negative in a match, how many people will criticize her harshly? Garret is being treated better than TJ who always gets criticized first when having negative emotions/hitting errors. Of course, Overall Passing is OK today but volleystation does say he has 4 errors on passing. He is given a lot more time developed which is unfair to Ewert and some other OHs, but this all depends on Speraw.

But Garret really cannot reach the level of Sander even after so many years of developing.

I think Matt/TJ + Kyle is better than Garrett/TJ + Matt (at least for the personnel they have in the VNL). Now I know Ensing isn't the best Oppo. He's not very terminal but he doesn't spray errors like Garrett does and would probably get more points because of the tempo that they run him on the right and he's honestly a better blocker than Matt is. Garrett is a pretty decent passer but I don't think Matt would be that much worse for much more offense. I don't think they would be willing to do this though since they're set on Matt hitting mainly on the right though.

You're right, he shouldn't be hitting negative but it happens. Hopefully he can up his offense in the next match and continue to bring some ball control. Also, I hope Ewert and the other outsides can continue to develop after this quad.

Where's Ben Patch when you need him? Sorry too soon? There's a name I haven't heard in a while! I remember that he was freakishly physical but I don't remember too many standout moments. Does he still play?
