Pet peeve: Commentators who are not intelligent re: When Micah C is in 5, that does not mean it's rotation 5 - it's rotation 3. Almost wishing for Anne and Emily (jk, but sorta serious) lol.

Where's Ben Patch when you need him? Sorry too soon? There's a name I haven't heard in a while! I remember that he was freakishly physical but I don't remember too many standout moments. Does he still play? he does pottery and model now

Argentina's sweep of Bulgaria unfortunately blocks the USA out of the top 8 by set ratio. Even if the USA sweep Japan that puts their set ratio at 0.4889(22/45) and ARG at 0.4894(23/47) which is only very slightly higher. Hopefully they still close out the VNL strong against Japan. While it is disappointing to not see them in the finals, I still believe a lot in this group. They didn't entirely look out of depth in the matches and had injured key players that were not playing or were playing injured. I think because of them being older they might need more time to rev up. Personally, I have more belief in the men's team than the women's team despite the women technically having a better result.

The commentator isn’t wrong - in all other countries including Canada the rotation is what zone the setter is in. In American rotation 5, Micah is in zone 3 and thus everywhere else in the world he is “ro 3” Funny bit of trivia and always something Americans have to learn their first year playing pro American ro 1 = int’l ro 1 American ro 2 = int’l ro 6 American ro 3 = int’l ro 5 Etc

Right On! This struggle this summer is real and all the players and coaches know they want to get back to where they were at the end of last summer. I believe and I think thie struggle will only galvanize them. The have fought hard and they are trending in the right direction. A good month of training in Anaheim has always done this team right. Have fun in the Japan match Let's GO USA! 🥇🌎

Have fun in the Japan match Let's GO USA! 🥇🌎 Your optimism.. I wish I had it lol The difference with what the men's and women's team for me is that you do see improvements as the week goes on. It's weird that they kind of go through resets but this week they have steadily improved and looked to be working on things and are adjusting. I also appreciated the emotion last game cause it really did show the dynamic between the team and the desire of everyone to want to get to a level that they're not at yet. So when they say they're trying to peak at the right time, I believe them because I see pieces of evidence and if you add Tommy and Aaron healthy in the mix and you'll get a fantastic product. Now the women, I'm a little more reluctant because it's a different person that steps up and has a bad day every game and it's so hard to see if they are getting it together and there seems to be very little to no desire to adjust by the coaching staff this VNL p.

Bummed about the team not making the finals. On the bright side, Anderson and Shoji had a great match. It also looks like the boys are having so much fun in the Philippines. The crowd support is great. The next game against Japan will be insane! I hope the guys can take the W. Go USA!
