I didnt watch but if your starting your 5th and 6th OH on the depth chart and a setter who hasn't set a match in two months, isnt this result kinda expected? Except these guys have much more years of experience than Japan’s outsides. Idk, being swept is not a good look no matter what lineup you’re fielding This. I'd want this scoreline from athletes fresh out of the NCAA...or still in.

Whats going on with USA men and women vb team? Conspiracy theory mind: we're sandbagging to lull our olympic pools into a false sense of security. Suppressed, realistic thinking: the men have been playing near their floor and the women's ceiling just isn't that high.

Suppressed, realistic thinking: the men have been playing near their floor and the women's ceiling just isn't that high. For men: I watched other mens matches results and it seem that there is very little difference between first/second/third/fourth tier countries. USA men have a complete startup line facing Argentina and Italy, and none others(if I am not mistaken). A lot of other countries are also rotating while some play A team all the time(Canada/Slovenia etc). Competition is very high. Besides Poland as the favorable champion, I don't really know the other medal contenders. It depends a lot on ad hoc performance in Olympics.

I can’t find the replay on vbtv for some reason… operator error, or are others having this issue? Only the highlight clip is showing.

The graphic says "Women's | Semi-Final and has flags from Brazil and Japan Here is the link: tv.volleyballworld.com/video/652673?playlistId=22960

I finally watched the replay. Serve receive was a mess, Shoji didn’t have a big impact. USA had a couple leads but crumbled. No one had a great match except maybe Averill? Holt was non existent. Overall, not too worried that this match affects Paris but oof. Speraw/USAV is gonna have to be very careful about the LA quad cuz this is not cute.

Does anyone think Speraw keeps Ensing around because he helps manage DeFalco's mood swings, as it is clearly not for his volleyball skill He it .189 during VNL

I don't know what other reasons to keep him around in NT.

Don’t they travel a sports psychologist on the bench or something for that crap?

That's concerning for LA2028, but not to worry about now.

That's concerning for LA2028, but not to worry about now. agree, and that is what is the most dissapointing about this VNL it turns out it was all about experimenting and Speraw had 3 guys play extensive (4 counting Dagostino) that I question will become major contributors in LA2028, so why not try to take a flyer to get Hanes or Briggs out there more, two guys I could see contribuing more in 2028. I just don't see Garret, Ensign, or Ma'a being major contributors even this summer, let alone 2028; for all the expereimentation, Speraw didn't take much risk in what was pretty much a lost cause tournament from the get go. Didn't even go with TJ on the right as an option. Garrett is the only guy that'll see some time, and only when receiving goes south and SPeraw tries to get a short term jolt of passing improvement, but that'll only work for a set or half a set at best during Paris.

He'll be spending next season on the bench behind Rychlicki for Trentino. Kinda a waste tbh if he doesn't get playing time.

You guys know Muagututia is going to be 40 by the time the LA Games get here, right? He will not be part of that roster. Also we should not be expecting two 41 year olds (Holt and Anderson) or one 43 year old (Smith) to be around. If for some reason any of these four are still representing the US at that point then I fear what has become of this team lol.
