Congratulations China! They did so well this tournament! Not only are they back to VNL but the points they got also most likely made them qualify to the World Championship. Not yet official as NT season isn’t done yet but they were below the cutoff before this tournament and now they are above the WR cutoff.

Congratulations to China. They defeated Belgium 3-1 and will be in next year's VML. They prepared really well for Belgium's pins trio and Reggers couldn't do it all. China had 16 blocks! Rotty took a serve to the head early in set 4 and then Perrin fell apart... brutal. Wang Jingyi being the top scorer over Zhang shows he's got the goods! I doubt current Jiang can put up those numbers and had he started over Wang I think Belgium would've got the win.

First go at creating an event thread, so I figured I'd bring out my ratchet skills with an event that not many people will care about. hahaha hosted in a place that is easily forgettable too

Just want to reiterate that I hate that China is in this tournament because they're hosting and had a much easier draw to the finals than the higher-ranked teams. They could potentially get into VNL (if they win) after finishing 5th in their own continental qualifer and still being currently ranked lower than the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams from this tournament. I say this as a fan of this Chinese squad 😒 to be fair, they were knocked out in QFs by the winner

Great to see China win the Challenger Cup and re-enter VNL. I’m glad they seem to be taking the men’s team more seriously with the coaching change. Their passing and especially their defense looks waaaaaaay better than last vnl. I knew the lefty was good - but maybe he wasn’t as consistent as the other opposite last year - hence not starting as much last year? But I could have sworn I saw 2 lefties at last year’s VNL. Hopefully they keep an upward trajectory cuz they are definitely a team with very good potential. It might have also helped that Zhang Jinyin played overseas. But overall, China looked way better - even the setting choices and their offense seemed much better than last year. I guess it’s what good coaching can do!
