Hey all! Week 14 rankings are in and matchups are set in the tracker for our final week of the regular season. This season FLEW by! Washington dropped out of the picture after a rough week last week, but Marquette, Miami, and Western Kentucky got their team pages and tracker/dashboard spots back this week. Standing Notes: - The official NCAA RPI rankings are now being inputted into the sheet and will be kept current each week.
- If you're someone who uses the team pages to access the team's website, you can still do so by hovering over the team's logo on their page.
Here's the tracker: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bApau4tEOuK60mVFxvU7FdJAEueFZZSbUHmZ1ok-CyM/edit?gid=31192062#gid=31192062As always, comments are enabled for any human error - feel free to call them out. Enjoy Week 14, everyone!

I was thinking this was a list of top 25 matchups as in top 25 vs top 25, so when I opened it and saw TAMU Corpus Cristi I was thrown for a second but now I get it, and it it is beautiful!

Haha it's both! You'll see who all the ranked teams are playing on the left, as well as the Top 25 vs Top 25 for the week on the right. You can also navigate to the other pages by clicking on the tabs on the bottom. Appreciate the kind words!

I use it as a cheat sheet for matches to watch

So, I ran a fun exercise this weekend where I took the # of matches against top 25 teams (or teams receiving votes), average opponent RPI, and % of matches against tournament teams (using the final 2023 figures for all categories, of course) and assigned points.
For example, Arkansas had an average opponent RPI of 104.68, which got them 10 points, they had 29% of their matches against tourney teams, which got them 2 points, and they have 5 games against ranked teams. That gave them a total of 17 points. (If anyone's curious/nerdy enough to look at the full point system, you can scroll to the Dashboard_Data page at the end of the spreadsheet - this exercise starts at H1.)
Here's who I found had the toughest schedules, based on all 3 categories:
1) Stanford (59.48 avg opp RPI, 55% of matches against tourney teams, 15 matches against ranked teams) T2) Pitt (66.10, 52%, 14) T2) Wisconsin (63.62, 52%, 14) T3) Texas (59.04, 67%, 11) T3) Louisville (61.90, 53%, 13) T4) Baylor (77.79, 46%, 14) T4) K-State (76.48, 52%, 13) T4) Kentucky (62.54, 67%, 11) T4) Nebraska (73.16, 45%, 14) T5) Georgia (72.35, 54%, 12) T5) SMU (62.97, 52%, 11) T5) Tennessee (66.46, 69%, 10) T5) USC (69.77, 40%, 12)
And here's what the weakest schedules look like:
1) Washington State (155.59, 15%, 3) 2) Dayton (148.00, 20%, 2) 3) Western Kentucky (136.81, 16%, 4) 4) Hawai'i (144.11, 32%, 7) 5) Arkansas (104.68, 29%, 5) T6) Iowa State (96.97, 28%, 9) T6) Pepperdine (108.18, 36%, 9) T7) Creighton (89.69, 31%, 8) T7) Florida (82.50, 39%, 8) T7) Marquette (95.31, 34%, 9) T8) Arizona State (97.50, 36%, 10) T8) Missouri (82.43, 39%, 9) T8) Oregon (83.45, 34%, 9)
I've added this into the Dashboard tab and will continue to update as the remaining schedules are released, but thought some folks here might be interested!

I have a hard time considering Creighton's non-con weak per se
Nebraska, Louisville, Purdue, Kansas, Missouri, USC, K-State, Colorado State etc.

Thanks for the strength of schedule rundown, NYCHusker ! Your spreadsheet is a reminder that Week 1 is not far off! I do have an unusual amount of joy for a Monday morning lol, and this is why. Poking around also reminded me of some vb trips I have.

The Providences, Georgetowns and UCONNs are sometimes too much to overcome but I do think that league takes a step forward this year and I did read they revamped their schedule in a way that should help Creighton and Marquette.

Following the demise of the PAC-12, Washington St. lost most of their coaches and best players from their strongest sports teams. But with their 2024 VB schedule, it will not be surprising to see them rack-up a record in the neighborhood of 22-5 in their 2024 regular season. Your analysis shows us that that type of record would likely be unworthy of a Top 25 ranking or NCAA tournament selection. Wazzu has suffered (is suffering) the most from the break-up of the PAC-12.

True. All good points.

I feel for them so hard. Sure, it'll be fun to see some of the exciting matchups in the new look conferences, but it's at Wazzu's and Oregon State's expense, which just sucks.
