but I thought that I read that only a small portion of the guys on the team were mormon. Can they marry while they are students??? As I've mentioned before there are many variables on why top vb players would want to attend BYU. The roster is so large because of all these variables. A small part is religion, which I haven't mentioned previously. The predominant reason, though, is money. With DI teams only having 4.5 each (spilt up however they want to), if you took the top 20 DI teams in the country that would be 90 scholarships that would be divided up. Not too much aid. So when it comes down to it where do the top players want to go if the money isn't there straight out of HS? They want to go to a program where they will have an opportunity to plug themselves in and contribute right away, or they'd take their chances in going to a top 10 program and take a year or two to work themselves in, earn a scholarship, earn playing time and have a chance to win a national championship. A good handful of very talented players will take option B. That is why schools such as BYU, Hawaii, and UCLA tend to have more talent than other schools. Then schools like Stanford, Pepperdine, USC get squeezed because kids are unlikely to pay the steep tuition for a year or two for the hope of getting some form of scholarship. BYU is by far the cheapest option, cost of living and tuition wise, and that's a big reason, coupled with the strong volleyball program and coaching that players want to come to BYU>.

I'm just guessing but part of it is probably the religious ties. MWF: You are all of a sudden a junior! I gotta get to work!

so what is the average tuiton there adding in room and board ? I have a friend who lives down there and says that they get a ton of support from the community and she stressed a ton. Do they get that much money from supporters that they can keep the tuition low? I'm not asking if they are doing anything illegal. I went to a christian college and I know that they received alot of mula from alumni. Just wondering.

Clean the cobwebs out and read my posts. The majority of what I post is based on fact. You had an opinion on the student body, I have fact. It's not a matter of I think I'm right and you think you're right. I'm right and you're wrong, because I know the situation. We can all agree to disagree on opinion, but you can't dispute fact RY. The fact is the school has a cap on internationals. Research it by asking any member of the board of trustees. As far as my banter with MWF goes, read the posts RY. I do my best to educate. I'm alot more familiar with the BYU program than MWF or you, so I try to share as much as I can. That's all. Dude, you need to get out more. Facts? Please,go be a politician somewhere else. The more you write and the bigger your words, the less I believe you. Like I said before, just drop it. FH, I agree, he does think he is the byuinfogod. I'm out, time to go watch the game.

hey, what about my tuition question....any one out there who knows? Ben: As always here is some information from the newly named annointed byuInfogod (please capitalize the I in all references, and please don't abbreviate). ar.byu.edu/dept_registration/tuitandfee.html#tgfIf you're just looking for tuition for the upcoming year it's $5,000 for a non-LDS student and about $3,200 for an LDS student. The reason why the tuition is low is because the LDS church subsidizes the university and to a lesser extent the university has some very generous donors, including me. I gave $25 bucks last year. ;D If you want a cost of living estimate just go scroll to the bottom of the page.
