Yes, the University made a concerted effort a few years ago to try to get the media and the public to drop the Corn from the Huskers. An attempt to spruce up our image or something like that. They also tried to make Herbie Husker less cartoon like and sent him to some "off season" training. It was quite funny. The new Herbie obviously hit the weight room over the summer in addition to losing a few pounds.
Its kind of like the whole deal with the AD at USC insisting that they be referred to as "the University of Southern California" NOT Southern Cal.

Regarding attendance. I like what Nebraska has going with large attendance at the matches. I think that Hawaii would be at 10,000 per match if the prices weren't so expensive here. It's just a little too expensive for the families to make it when it's free to watch on TV. The folks in California tell you that there are 'too many other things to do' besides go to the volleyball matches, but I think that's bull. I think that overall volleyball isn't marketed well, isn't given attention at the match (more of a high school atmosphere at most gyms), and the fans are typically not felt 'appreciated.' It's not a hard thing to do all of the above, it just takes some folks that are dedicated and inspired about their program. I doubt that very much. Hawaii couldn't get more than just over 8,000 to their matches against Florida & Stanford & only 7700 for their match with UCLA. That's 3 big name teams and that's all they got! NU if they played those 3 teams in the Qwest they would definitely draw more fans than that!

It looked to me like that for a game and a half that the NU blockers were just jumping too soon. After they got their timing down that is when they started getting the blocks.

Nebraska's blocking problems in the first 2 games had more to do with the fact that CU was passing well. NU served much better in games 3 and 4 which forced the Jays out of system to often. If you are out of system against the Big Red your in trouble.
Also a big congrats to the Creighton people. This was their home contest and they did it right.

Don't let aaronic get ya down doc, happy to see a Creighton representative on board. A few of us like to follow the Missouri Valley Conference. Gotta agree though, nicely done.
