Wow, I haven't come in to check this thread for a while (as I cautioned from day 1: you can't worry too much about individual weeks). But knowing that Pablo had a pretty good week against the AVCA, I came in to see how things were going.
I know Pablo had a rough first week of this, but looks to have done well since then.
I shan't say anymore

Actually, I don't really care how it comes out. Just the fact that there is a question whether the coaches, who know more about volleyball than most people, do a better job of picking winners than a simple objective algorithmic approach tells me more than enough.
BTW, there is something missing in your summary. While it is tempting to turn it into a "Who can Beat Pablo" contest, I thought it was supposed to be a comparison of the weekly rankings? As such, where is the Rich Kern vs AVCA head-to-head? You have all three, Pablo/AVCA, and Pablo/RK, but should have AVCA/RK. Oh wait, that is probably in the all three, isn't it (since Pablo is never a limiting factor)?
Also, how about throwing RKPI into the mix? This one I can grant because it does cause extra work, but for information sake, it would be useful to see how it does.

As for the rest, I will never forget (nor will my kids) my father's response when at age 10, I answered his question as to why I had not done some chore, "because I didn't have time to do it": "Oh, I see, unlike everyone else, you have less than 24 hours in a day." So, while I could do all the other analyses about which you ask, I am really not that interested in spending the time necessary to find their outcome. And judging by the VT communitys imput on this thread, well, dot dot dot. However, I would be interested in reviewing the results.

I thought about throwing the RKPI into the mix but was never really able to find on the RK site where it might be updated on a weekly basis.
If it isn't regularly updated it doesn't make sense to added it into the mix.

If it isn't regularly updated it doesn't make sense to added it into the mix. It is on the regular rankings page, under the part of "regional" rankings. You can sort the results by region or RKPI (and other categories)

I'll add RKPI to the mix this week as long as publius has no objections to that.

Can you go back and retrocheck? I'd love to see the full comparison. The AVCA vs RPI - I'd lean with the AVCA, probably, but it's not obvious. I know how RKPI compares to Pablo - it lags about 5% behind. However, 5% behind Pablo in the overall standings would put it about 52 - 23, which is still better than the AVCA.
If that were to pan out, wouldn't that be a kicker!?

I do plan (over time this season) to gove back through each of the previous weeks (including the first 5 contest) to get them into copies of the spreadsheet that I'm using now for the contest.
In the process of doing the full contests for previous weeks I'd end up with weekly records for the AVCA Poll, Rich Kern Poll, Pablo Rankings, and RKPI Ranking for all weeks as well.

It will take a fair amount of time to find all of the old weekly contest threads, enter the matches, winners, contestant picks, and predictions from AVCA, RK, Pablo, RKPI for each week.
However, now that the spreadsheet appears to be working (other than my various typos and mis-entries) its "only" a matter of finding and setting aside the time to do a week at a time until I'm caught up with all of it.
