Wisconsin did indeed lose to UCSB.
That's the problem in a nutshell, btw, what you're saying there. There is absolutely no consistency to this poll. You say it has to do with the entire season and we know that is not true. How did Tennessee and Santa Clara end up in the top 6 in the last poll of 2005 if that is true?
I don't think the voters even know what the objective of this poll is...

Just burns Ruffda that Purdue is ranked higher than his Gophers. Has since the first poll. We'll find out if he's right in 2 weeks time and we'll be able watch it the next day on ESPN2. It burns me only because Minnesota was ranked #21 and Purdue #17 in the last poll of 2005. That was not right. As for Minnesota's ranking this year, they started out too low in the preseason poll (#22 to Purdue's #16), but I don't know how the voters were supposed to rank them after they started losing to start the year. How do you take the suspension into account? All I want from this poll -- from the experts -- is for them to tell us who they think are the better teams. I don't think this happens.

Maybe they are but you just can't accept it because they clearly don't agree with you.

Nope. That's not it at all.
But thanks for trying to tell me what I think. It helps.

How do you take the suspension into account? Just as they have. It's W's & L's. There is nowhere on the scoreboard for excuses.

Do you really think the majority of coaches in the country believe Purdue is the 2nd best team in the Big10? They may be, but I don't think that's what they believe. So WHY ARE THEY VOTING THAT WAY??
Do you think the majority of coaches think UCLA will win the Pac10 this year? I don't think they do. So why are they the top rated Pac10 school?
The answer is that they are locked into their choices after the preseason poll.

It's to their credit they've managed to make it back to #24. I wasn't even talking about Minnesota. I was talking about Wisconsin.

Nope. That's not it at all. Yes it is. You're bent because your Gophers aren't where you think they should be. If you are so against the poll, where were all your complaints in years past when the Gophers were ranked high?

I think everyone, no matter who they cheer for, can agree that the AVCA Poll is very flawed. It's too bad the poll has become a joke that no one really takes seriously.

If you are so against the poll, where were all your complaints in years past when the Gophers were ranked high? No. It's not. And I've always had the same complaint about this poll. And, again, for the record, the Gophers can't be ranked higher than they are. Not given where they started and how they played to start the season. Can I make that any plainer for you?

(R)uffda! has been making the same complaints about the AVCA poll for years, including when the Gophers were highly ranked. Selective memory on your part?

It'll all come out in the wash in the end.

I'll tell you why (again). I really do want to know who these coaches think are the best teams. I think a poll that actually did that would be cool.
And it won't come out in the wash in the end. The last AVCA poll is the worst one, because it just copies the NCAAs. The last poll isn't even needed. I wish they'd get rid of it. It would also help alleviate the preseason poll flaws.
I wouldn't even be having this conversation if you hadn't done me wrong. You, sir, have sullied my good name!
Shall we say pistols at dawn?
