The thing that really irritated me last night was that Pavan kept signaling her to 'get the set higher'. What a cop out. Pavan had so many errors that were completely unforced, no way should she have been doing the 'blame' thing. I didn't see the match and was only listening to it but John Baylor kept talking about how Holloway's sets were too low for both Pavan and Stalls. He also talked about how loud it was and if you can't hear very well, hand signals are your best form of communication. I don't see what is wrong with a hitter telling her setter where she wants the ball. That is not a "blame" thing. It is working together as a team.

Nebraska is under a lot of pressure this season. The players and coaches are probably under a lot of stress. I actually feel sorry for the Husker program and its fans. Anything less than a National Title will be a disappointment for Nebraska. True. Yet the demeanor they have now isn't going to help them win a title against teams that are much more loose. We saw what happened last year. It's just frustrating for a fan to watch them act like dominating machines. Nebraska learned A LOT from Logan Tom in 2001. She schooled them in so many ways and they did take note on a few things. Celebration is great but can also be draining and lead to huge momentum swings. (I guess a few posters will hate this post.) Logan Tom was one of the best at maintaining a high level of play throughout the match; and she took a lot of criticism for it too. There are definitely times to celebrate, but not simply after EVERY won rally.

One of the great things I like about women's volleyball is the joy they express after a kill or block, particularly when they turn and celebrate with their teammates vs. an in your face celebration towards the opposing team.
Emotional players can raise their teammates when they are excited but they need to be careful not to let the down emotions show thru and deflate their team.
