UAB, the #5 seed. Now there's a conference whose champ is in trouble. Who was it? Tulsa? Yes, Tulsa. Sorry for the echo; working with Gorf has slowed down my keyboard skills. ;D

Idahoboy is currently snow-shoe bow-and-arrow hunting with Sasquatch for wild potatoes for his extended family Thanksgiving dinner, but the last words I heard from him were that the Vandals would sweep in Reno and da Wahine would gain an at-large berth and play its first round match at Ithaca on December 1.

Something to keep in mind with St. John's and hosting. There are SIX teams from New York in the tournament right now. St. John's, Albany, Hofstra, Long Island, Cornell, and Siena. I say three stick nearby (Albany, St. John's and Hofstra), and the other three get sent away.

good call silver surfer. since i guarantee the ncaa loves keeping costs down they definitely would love to keep teams local, especially in the ny area since its twice as expensive there then most places. i think it's more likely that long island and hofstra go to st. johns with albany prob heading over to PSU. cornell and siena probably will get sent to wisconsin/minnesota/ohio state or something like that

oklahoma, missouri, purdue, louisville, and ohio state should all get in. wisc-milwaukee won their conference tournament today so they locked up a bid.

A few thoughts...this is good stuff and cool for talking.
SEC is a little crazy, way too many teams in last year, it was a joke. Will be interesting to see what happens this year.
Ohio weak schedule? They have one of the top 25 most difficult non conference schedules in the nation...24 RPI, #18 AVCA...I think they won the tourney so moot point but c mon...they also have Louisville and Notre Dame this weekend comingu up...
Any non BCS at larges out there from anyone?

Of course they could host like Yale did a couple of years ago.

I don't think hosting sub-regionals requires a team to be seeded in the era of pre-selected regional sites.

Nebraska has a real travel problem with the tournament every year. The only DI teams within 400 miles of the campus are in the Missouri Valley Conference (besides there own Big 12) and any of those teams that make it always have other places they could be sent within 400 miles too. Looks like only 1 MVC team in this year so that sure doesn't help. So as much as I hope the Huskers will play 1st and 2nd rounds at home, I wouldn't be surprised if the got sent to someplace like St. John's with a couple of other NY teams. It would kind of get the committee off the hook by giving them a relatively easy 1st and 2nd round on the road with all those New York teams.
The biggest problem with doing that is that it really costs the NCAA a bunch of money. In Nebraska the first and 2nd roung would be a guaranteed 4000+ sell out at about $30 a pop. Costs for the teams in Lincoln would be a fraction of those in NY, so they'd surely take a $100,000 plus hit by sending the Huskers packing (Same basic deal as Hawaii).

What midwest teams are probably in besides Nebraska, Iowa St, UNI, MN, Wisconsin? While I think UNI has a case, saying they are "probably in" is a stretch. Wins over Alabama, Clemson, and Notre Dame aren't bad, and probably better than others, but when tempered with a loss to Kansas St, it hurts. I consider UNI a possible.

Where is this talk of St Johns getting seeded?
Get real.
They need to worry about getting selected at all.
