My final pick is Hooker. If Whitney Dosty had a better year (a much better year) then I would have picked her. And the same can be said for a lot of other players around the country. Dosty's hitting .137 for the season. Your reasoning is insubstantial.

Hodge will be freshman of the Year, she has the stats, plays on a top team, and has had monster matches. I believe based on the system now being used to choose Big Ten POY, she will win that award. Can't imagine a freshman winning Big 10 POY and not being national FOY. I've already asked, but not gotten a response, to whether a freshman can get POY in the Big10. Do they not have a separate FOY award? Hypothetically speaking, the same player can get Big Ten FOY and POY. I just checked to make sure and was given the same answer.

Thanks but no. I don't need endorsement from any poster in this forum. I find satisfaction in my knowledge of the game and my experience playing at the highest level. I've had so many great times watching well played volleyball matches in person and on television. Everyone in here has. Try not to limit the best team to be on the left coast only. There have been plenty of great teams in since the beginning of NCAA's, but they've just been beaten out by teams on the west. I have to say my favorite team from the past ten years is 1994-1997 Stanford Cardinal. Probably one of the best all time. i have nothing in common w/that kid nor do i want to meet it i only like women and since every1 know i love every1 i'm gonna give it my love too so ink ye have my love but ye don't have my endorsement it can state what it wants just as long as it doesn't make od angry or else i'ma have to let bike and her sister gang pull out a ruler make it kneel dwn on pinto beans & slap it on the belly w/the aforementioned ruler til it's sorry as for the position of troll- i am the only troll here w/the position of master troll w/c i lft behind as i evolved to my current position and no1 else is capable enuff to fill that position heretofore now that all that is out of the way i want to pt out that halloway is 1 of the most poor decission makers as a setter and is this yrs 2nd foremost overrated setter after only to glass of psu(pitiful senseless undergrads) their touch and location is even below what the avg setters in the west can perform in any given match yes their teams are only @the top of their conference due to the fact that their conference has a bunch of d9 lvl jr high quality vb skills compared to theirs w/c ~ = that of a mediocre jc yes they did get lucky for getting decent recruits when they won the title but it was a title they won because the pac10 wanted to take a break from winning titles w/c they benefitted by winning countless consecutive titles since cornchokers couldn't even win back2back titles when they were graciously given a red carpet by the avca to repeat but as always when the western teams make the finals the eastern teams(yes the midwest is like an xtended adult education for the the east) choked and they choked well if any of ye want to see the best @what they do then keep watching nubraska vb or psu fl minniesoota bludgers ohio osu vb and the rest of the nonwestern teams

I think it's safe to classify Harmotto and Fawcett as experienced players...Larson, Stalls and Pavan too...so I don't think Texas is the only team with some experienced players that surround a freshman...I also think that the players mentioned above have all been part of a discussion as potential POY candidates....Texas doesn't have those players and has lost 2 AA players from last year. I think every Freshman player that is being discussed is worthy of consideration but, who has had the biggest impact and can do the most? I think it has to be either Engle or Hodge...as good as Holloway is, she is setting a few of the best hitters in the country, frankly I think that Barnes at Baylor has done more with less as a freshman.

Yes, CBrown, I think you're right...so Holloway will be the newcomer of the year in the Big 12.

You can add Taylor Carico to candidates of FOY. She was fantastic last night against Stanford. I suspect Pac 10 FOY at this point.

excellence is very selective so why should i not limite the teams only to the west if ye know the definition of the word best w/c ye ardently stated then ye would know that it is a word that describes only the teams in the west (especially the west coast but other western teams are still considered excellent) until ye could prove otherwise ye best keep or share yer very limited vb knowledge to loser teams (nonwestern teams) i do find it risible that yer very satisfied w/the knowledge ye have of this sport and w/ye having played in this sport @the 'highest level' just to clarify 'highest level' to yer p.o.v means playing in a high school freshman team rite or playing in college on a nonwestern team i'm just making sure that every1 would clearly understand what ye mean 'highest level'
for the foy i am convinced now that when tx beats the cornchokers engel will win it

Does it matter, in the voting for FOY, on how far the team advances into the postseason (like it usually does for POY)?

If you want to debate Pavan, perhaps start a thread about it.....I want to read about 2006 freshman of the yr candidates!!
Engle gets my vote.....and tell me more about the system of determining FOY and POY in the Big 10!
