Ah, they're jumping ahead, darnitall.
That set by Spicer to make it 22 all in game 2 was fabulous.

UCLA was up 28-26 (point 28 rally was also great) and lost. There were some close calls that put UCLA up 28-26.
The last call? No replay. She's definitely calling it a lift. I don't know, but it was a bad pass, a tough set.

Even though Larson only killed 12 percent of her sets, she was very strong defensively(25 digs and 5 blocks).

Only thing I have to add is welcome to the big time Tracy Stalls. After watching the match over, I was floored watching her. While she has been doing it this year, it's no question that she played the best match of her career on the biggest and brightest stage tonight. Here's hoping for a repeat performance Saturday night!

Pavan was best friends with the net for the first two games. She didn't start hitting the ball over the net til point 26 in game 2.

At 20-19 in game 4, Rachel does a setter dump for a point. You can see it in Nana's eyes at that point the lights were out when she gets up from trying to play the ball.

When I think of Nebraska volleyball, I think of Geritol. When I think Hawaii volleyball, I think ... nothing, because they aren't in the Final Four. Who cares?

I was at the match on the UCLA endline -- here are my random thoughts.
1. I LOVE NELLIE SPICER. Wow. She gave her OH's so many 1-on-1 opportunities, it was just sick. Nebraskas's OH's only got 3 1-on-1's that I remember all match. So deceptive and so smooth (except maybe when she's chasing shanked passes all over the court). Still, the most amazing back pass assist from out of bounds all the way to left side that I have ever seen. LOVE HER.
2. UCLA played virtually error-free ball in game 1.
3. Couldn't have been more disappointed in the crowd in game 1. No help to NU at all.
4. Lost my voice halfway through game 2 yelling at NU to pass better and run the damn middle. Stalls incredible on front 1 all year but especially tonight. She swung right at Nana, and UCLA didn't have an answer.
5. Larson couldn't hit the broad side of a barn tonight except the ones west of Lincoln on her serve.
6. Larson's passing and defense were incredible.
7. Busboom couldn't receive serve worth a darn tonight, but she was money on the digs.
8. Schwartz passed nails.
9. Great heads-up play by Johnson sending it over on 2 at Pavan's feet while Pavan was transitioning. Pavan looked shocked.
10. Sather is scary when she's on. NU couldn't block her or dig her.
11. UCLA got lots of point runs on Jade Merchado's (sp?) serve when Cooper and Mancuso were in the front row.
12. Pavan hits better out of the back row than front row (in part because Holloway has to give her a higher set).
13. UCLA's line defense (Spicer and ??) was scary good.
14. Refs really called this game tightly but, from our perspective in the stands, pretty consistently. Hard to tell, though.
15. Does anyone else think Colby Lyman digs more effectively when she has to move side to side than when the ball's coming straight at her?
16. After the match, the UCLA team came past our seats and we had the chance to tell Nana what an incredible player she is. She stopped and gave us a big smile and 25 or so red clad fans gave her a standing ovation. She is special.
That is all.

This isn't about Hawai'i. It's about Nebraska Volleyball, and when I think of Nebraska volleyball, I think of Geritol. I'm not an ageist or anything but there was a lot of old folk in the stands.

I agree with your fan comment. When you have 17000 fans make some noise . Probably the toughest match I have seen all season for Larson offensively. The good news....never seen her have two tough matches in a row.

One more thing. As the Huskers were leaving the court after the match, the pressure some of them were feeling was really obvious -- Larson and Mancuso were not just crying -- they were sobbing. Schwartz, Cooper, and Stalls, on the other hand, had ear-to-ear grins.
Guess it was just wishful thinking on Cook's part that all the pressure was just getting back to Omaha. Hopefully, those last 4 points will give Larson some confidence for the finals.

How can you know the reason behind me being on VT? I don't even know why I'm here. Well, on second thought, I like irritating people at times. Hey, I like old folk, it's just an observation.
