Just a couple thoughts: I too was very impatient with the crowd in game 1. However, I experienced the same thing at the AVCA and the 2005 Regionals. They didn't get into it much until the end of each game. Very few one handed sets tight at the net are let go....especially when the ball is brought back toward the court as opposed to straight up. I did have a problem with the call in game 3 where it was the second of Pavan's 10pt run. Holloway was also called for 3 double hits as was Busboom for two. I thought it was interesting that many of Merriweather's kills weren't monster kills but rather she just hung in the air so long she was able to put it where the Huskers weren't. Later in the match the Huskers actually started digging up her "hard" swings. Stalls on the other hand.....she friggin pounded the ball into the ground! Very proud of her. Her leadership skills have certainly been on display all year too. She is just as much as a perfectionist as Pavan, but she smiles and is a lot more encouraging by far when it comes to her teammates. Re: your crowd....you guys just need to keep the defibrillators charged.....doing a lot of hand sitting in games 1 and 2....furthermore everyone left after game 1 of the second match....past all those old people's bedtimes? ? the palace was EMPTY by halfway through game 2 of the second semi-final....it will be interesting to see what happens in two years when it comes back and Nebraska is NOT in it! Everyone started leaving then because there really wasn't a match going on--- it wasn't even close.

Nebraskans are fans of good volleyball. Which is why they left early in the Stanford/Washington match. Real volleyball fans stay to watch any kind of volleyball regardless of how one-sided a match is.

I thought Nebraska looked like the better team last night once they finally got things together. There was some great defense on both sides in the match; some of the rallies were incredible. I thought Spicer was really impressive, even in the loss. She made some bump sets that were perfect even though they had to go all the way across the court. They were the type of plays where you just hope to get the ball across the net in bounds on the hit and they instead got a real attack. Nebraska did a really good job of containing Nana. Why was Sather not playing the entire time this year? I don't get it.

Hey everyone! I was playing with the UCLA Band last night, and I have to say that yesterday was some of the most fun I've ever had. The atmosphere of Omaha and the Qwest Center was amazing. The Nebraska fans were a tad overwhelming (17,000 people, maybe 100 UCLA fans), but that just made me scream louder for my Bruins. We had a great season, and I couldn't be more honored to have had the opportunity to witness it all the way to the end. Go Bruins!

Please proceed directly to your local YMCA, there are lots of nine year olds there this weekend who would love to have your fanatic support for their "everybody is a winner" volleyball games. I'm sure it will be tremendously exciting for you.
