Well - Nebraska does have Larry the Cable Guy as a fan. He's actually from here also, so he's not just a fan. But agree, I find his humor a bit cheezy myself, and am not a fan at all, but you have to give him credit, he has not only topped, but blasted the market for top Comedian the last 3 years around the country.

I'm not really a fan of his, but he did have that 60 Minutes piece, and his love of NU sports was brought up. I don't think he went to college.

I don't think he went to college. Haven't heard if he has or not. But considering how much he makes, almost makes me think I wasted my money on college... but I know better. heh.

Whoops, me bad. I meant Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson's ex. Well - Nebraska does have Larry the Cable Guy as a fan. Well, that's why the Huskers were able to "Git R Done" in Omaha...

Stanford is the x factor for recruits. It is the one institution that pretty much trumps all others in recruiting. It has national appeal, and the degree is the most prestigious of all top programs by a long shot. Having recruited at that level, it was the one school you did not want to hear mentioned by players you were recruiting. It is hard to beat them in any area. They are as good or better than any volleyball team, their athletic dept (for olympic sports) is as good if not better than everyones, the degree is as good or probably better, and their campus and campus life is as well. Any school whould be lucky to have 1or 2 of those things, let alone all of them. What about Villanova, it academic and volleyball programs? Any advice?

I know she has told people from day one that she's wanted to get far away to play vb, so I'm not sure she's slapping any faces to play vb at Stanford. I was told that supposedly Mizzou told her she could play OH and play all the way around. I don't know if I believe that or not. As I stated earlier I was told NU offered her a full scholarship and she said no, I was also told that she came back to NU when there was no money immediately available from Stanford and was told sorry, it's gone. At the high school level she's the best passer/defender I've ever seen. We(including me) all assume she can make an immediate impact at the D1 level. Time will tell on that. It wasn't Gabi going back to NU but NU going back to Gabi. Huskers lost one of the best ball control players to ever play in their back yard, doesn't look good for jc. Somehow though I think both programs will be just fine.

Gabi knew the financial situation with Stanford all along. She went on a 3rd visit to Lincoln on a Saturday and was offered a full-ride scholarship, she was given a 7 day deadline after that offer to make a decision. The following Tuesday she flew to Palo Alto for an unofficial visit. Upon her return she had some very tough decisions facing her. It came to the 7th day and she wasn't ready to make a decision. She called Nebraska and told them she wasn't ready to make a decision and at that point NU told her they could not wait any longer and they needed to move on with their recruiting. I don't believe there were any hard feelings involved with either of the parties. I know her father very well as this is who has shared this information with me in the past. He and his family are true Husker fans and would have loved to see both of their girls in Lincoln. Sometimes things just don't work out the way people want, so you must move on and support the athletes with their decisions. They are the ones that have to live with their decisions and make the school they choose a part of their family for the next four or five years. I'm confident that with Gabi's abilities, she will be a winner no matter where she ends up.

I've never seen Ailes play so I can't speak of her level, but it boggles my mind that coaches still underestimate the impact of a top libero. There's not a ton of girls that can pass and defend like a Seilhamer, Candace Lee or Gentil. These prep liberos should have someone ranked in the top 10. And they should have coaches willing to hold out scholarships for them like any other recruit. I think I'm going to start a libero's Union.

Exactly. If Klineman had told Nebraska, "You are one of my final three choices but I'm not ready to make a decision", would they have replied "Sorry, we gave you exactly seven days and it's now day eight. We're moving on"?

This "Gabi Alies Question" thread is up to 4 pages. It must be one hell of a question!

An amount of 4 pages on "the Gabi Ailes Question" is nothing. I bet there are 4 million web pages about "The Mars Volta" and "The String Cheese Incident".

They were raving about some girl from Western Nebraska CC that USC had looked at. Anyone know anything about her.
