Any thoughts?
The team will be a year older. Houston a returning AA. Sanders and Gregory both SR's. Lee returning. Hittle looking to be fully healthy and recovered...
I think the only query will be at Setter(obviously). If Mafua can set and connect(with her hitters) accurately, then I think the Wahine will be alright. Of course no one can know what chemistry will be like until the season begins.
IMO Snaders and Gregory will be at their best next year due to the services of Sealy and Scott Wong. I mean at the beginning (of the season) toward the middle (of the season) this year, they were pretty good at blocking and then (right after Wong came aboard) by the end of the season they were pretty remarkable. I'm optimistic of what the same coaching staff will be able to do with one year of training with them- esp. on offense.
Hawaii needs to also figure out that RS. Kaufman was alright this year. She's a Freshman though so I never really thought of her mistakes as that big of a deal. She really needs to improve for her Sophomore year.
If Otineru returns, maybe she can take the position. But I guess I should't comment on her until she does come back.
Arnott? Anyone know if she'll be back?- If so, she'll be another optioin. Her blocking is pretty good, and she'll be a SR- maybe she can bring that SR leadership.
I'm actually also optimistic in passing. Lee, Hittle, Kaaihue, and possibly Otineru will handle the BR. Not sure about Houston in the passing dept.
ONe thing's for sure is that it will be a very interesting year because there is a lot of optimism yet a few crucial question marks to ponder.
Partial verdict will be out come Spring time on Mafua esp.
