You are correct, they did not drop out of the tournament. As for the spelling. People only get attacked for spelling when the point really hits home. Like I said in my first post. My outlook for '07 for the Whine is still the same. Another conference championship against inferior competition and then a 3rd or 4th round loss followed by 2 weeks worth of finger pointing and blaming everyone else for the loss. In the mean time Nebraska and Stanford will duke it out for another championship. (any spelling errors there?) Honestly, has there been two weeks worth of finger pointing and blaming by Hawaii fans over why their team got eliminated from the NCAA tournament? I think the concensus here is that the Rainbow Wahine simply lost to a better UCLA team. I haven't heard anyone complaining. Even Shoji said that fatigue from the USC match had nothing to do with the loss; UCLA was just better than they were, no choking involved.

Wow this is fun! ;D People only 'get corrected' when they can't spell and are too lazy to use the fancy tool at the bottom of the page. Your spelling is good, but your punctuation is poor. Sentence fragments, a run-on sentence, missed comma's, and missing caps all lead to a confusing post. I'm sure Stanford and Nebraska will be great next year. But we are talking about Hawaii's outlook in 2007, should you actually want to participate in this thread correctly.

pineapple, I can't find proof that Arnott is one of the best passers. When she was a starter in 2004, I recall her passing only twice - in the opening season match and the final three games vs. Wisconsin. She wasn't even a full-time passer because Hittle came in as a DS. About next year, an All-American in Houston returns along with WAC honorees Gregory, Sanders, Kaufman and Lee. I hope Gregory finally improves her hitting numbers because it's the only thing hindering her from becoming a real force in the middle. Lee should step up her passing or someone else will take the libero job from her and I expect Kaufman to be a better player after her first season. She's a great blocker but her hitting numbers are mediocre. Hittle, Thomas and Keefe will be back from injury and are all contenders for starting jobs. Hittle will be a real factor if she returns to her 2004 form. The past two years, she has been a mediocre OH and I understand that she was hurt both years, but with all the hype Shoji is building around her, I can't help but expect more from her. Thomas could be a real asset in the middle or at opposite if she stays healthy. Keefe's a great blocker but her hitting numbers are so-so. If she wants to win back her starting spot, she needs to improve her hitting and maybe learn to pass. Walk-ons Woolford, Ong, Blood, Duggins, Kitaguchi and Recca are also expected to return while Mafua will be on the active roster after a year of training under Kamana'o. Woolford and Duggins saw a lot of time this year and really should improve big-time by next season - especially Woolford, who will be a senior. Ong should get back to her 2004 form (serving-wise) and improve her passing and defense if she wants to play at all next season. Blood has always done a good job in her limited court tenure, so I don't really undertand why she hasn't played more especially with all the struggles the team went through this season. Kitaguchi also needs to improve big-time on her passing and defense if she wants to see the court next year. Shoji might keep Recca around next year, but she'll probably never play. Arnott still has a year left but I guess it's still a question mark if she will be returning as a Wahine. I heard she will be graduating in May. Simmons and Ka'aihue will join the team. Will they be redshirted? I was referring to Arnott's ability to pass the ball, not statistics. There have been several newspaper accounts on this. In fact, in one account no less than Shoji himself mentioned Arnott's stellar ability to pass, and in another account UH sudden loss of quality passing was attributed to the loss of both Arnott and Hittle. Go to this site, still another account, and a comprehensive write up on her abilities: starbulletin.com/2002/10/23/sports/story4.htmlAs far as Kaufman is concerned, her hitting numbers are mediocre because she did not get the repetitions; Kanoe had limited options but to go to outside more often than she wanted to because of the poor passing. Nevertheless, as in Arnott's case, there have been several articles on her and her volleyball abilities. I like this one: starbulletin.com/2006/09/23/sports/story01.htmlRegarding Keefe's return, another newspaper article reported her the most doubtful of the class of 2004 (Hittle, Thomas, Keefe) to return.

I don't see Hawaii rolling with the big girls next year. Too much firepower, height, and talent in the top 5. Kamanao's departure has got to hurt. Hopefully a regional semi or regional final finish? Maybe they'll continue the trend of upsetting a high seeded team in the NCAA tourney. Who knows, we can always be hopeful

Anyone who transfers to Hawaii always turn out better than they were on their old teams. Why? Dave Shoji

Outlook for '07 Same as it always is. A whole bunch of build up until the season starts. Another conference championship against inferior talent (sounds almost like the Big12). Once the tournament seeds are released we'll have to hear about how Hawaii got screwed with their seed, playing site, or opponents. A Husker fan (probably me) will say something smart, and then the conversation will turn to how much better it is to live in Hawaii than Nebraska. All of this is designed to rattle said Husker fan. In the mean time Nebraska will be working their way to Sacramento, and the Whine will be tanning on the beach. I predict Hawaii to choke once again, and then blame Mary Wise, John Cook, NCAA, AVCA, and anyone else that reads this board. Then around Christmas time next year we will see another post that says something like "Hawaii's Outlook for '08" and Husker Nation will be celebrating another National Championship (5 games over Stanford in an absolute slugfest). Sounds 'bout right. You are a newbie to this board. I see you've chosen to be an as sho le.

With All-Americans Houston and Sanders returning next season, does anybody think Hittle will be back 100%. It was mentioned in one of the games that Hittle's injury might be more serious than thought. Anybody? I thought it was Keefe's injury that might've been worse than originally expected, but I could be wrong. Are players on the All-America Honorable Mention list to really be considered All-Americans? I don't believe so, but I'm curious as to what others think. On my count, Hawaii will only have one returning All-American. You are right. It's Keefe who has the serious injury which may mean the end of volleyball for her. I too think HMs are not counted as AAs.
