That would be hilarious if Anderson transfered to Pacific.
Anyhow I don't know if these two girls are any more "selfish" than other transfers. Maybe they'll transfer to programs that emphasize strength training, or maybe they'll transfer to a stronger conference.

Anyhow I don't know if these two girls are any more "selfish" than other transfers. Not sure I agree with this statement. These girls are not backups looking to get on the court. They picked Utah and now feel they are too good for the program? If they are being manipulated then I feel sorry fro them. I also feel that any coaches that encourage transfers to come to them need to be severly punished.

Without knowing the real reasons, seems kind of pointless to be making assumptions about these kids, no?
If the reasons presented above were true, why would any sane coach bring them on?
Color me skeptical.

I also feel that any coaches that encourage transfers to come to them need to be severly punished. yeah you wonder if these two girls can completely turn away from a team full of girls that they have known since they were twelve years old, what is in store for the rest of their lives. they are going to a new team and going to say "i am completely part of your team and will do what ever i can to make you better" but how many of their teammates will believe it because of that they did to Utah. they went through almost a semester lying to the team. they waited until after national team tryouts and going to Europe to tell the team about their decision. so they basically took all they needed from The U before dropping them. that doesn't seem like they even care about the relationships they make through their lives. Who is to say that they will even play hard for their next team. They were on a nationally 9th ranked Utah team that had ALL of its starters returning then next year. Why leave that? there aren't that many teams that were considered better than that. what are they looking for? someone not to push them as players? sounds like a cop out to me. some of their excuses were the lack of a tough playing schedule. ? isn't Utah playing in the AVCA showcase next year. Then they have USC and Florida coming to their gym the next week. Utah may have a weak conference but so do other perennial powers. Utah knows that they don't have the strongest conference that is why they are putting non conference games into their schedule. To hear all the excuses they have for leaving it sounds like someone is behind the scenes pushing them to do it. None of the excuses can hold their own so i guess their thought is if we put a bunch of weak excuses together then people will understand but i for one don't believe it

Seems ironic that Krug transfers to get more playing time after getting beaten out by Anderson. But had she stayed at Utah, all would have worked out. Instead she goes to lowly Pacific. She must be kicking herself. hahah, that's ironically hillarious and yet completely horrible at the same time. It's not legally possible for her to undo the transfer or transfer back or something is it? I feel terrible for Utah fans. What a crushing blow.

But I'm just saying players ultimately transfer to do what is in their best interest. I guess this just stings for an up-and-coming program to lose two of their strongest players. But it happens. UCSB lost Sandell. Long Beach State lost Ali Daley. If these girls truly think they're not going to be happy w/ their current program then they might as well transfer.

Did they all play club together? What club? the majority of Utah's team is from Utah and most of them played for Kim Norman at High Country.

deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,660211440,00.html 3 more women athletes leaving Ute programs By Amy Donaldson Deseret Morning News A basketball player and two volleyball players have decided the University of Utah's athletic programs are not for them. Lydia Whitehead is the fifth player to leave the women's basketball program this year and the fourth in just two weeks, while sophomore outside hitter Airial Salvo and freshman setter Sydney Anderson stunned the volleyball program by announcing their departure. All three were released from their scholarships on Thursday, according to Chris Rogers, the University of Utah's director of compliance. He said all three athletes have asked that their information be forwarded to other schools, although he declined to name those programs. "Their departure was difficult to accept at this time of the year, but we are moving forward and our team is determined to keep us among the nation's elite volleyball programs," said volleyball coach Beth Launiere in a prepared release. "The positive is how our team has bonded together after this surprise announcement." Salvo was the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year and was the third Ute in the program's history to be named an All-American. She earned double-digit kills in 30 of the team's 32 matches and finished with an average of 4.13 kills, 3.35 digs and .78 blocks. Salvo, a two-time 5A MVP at Viewmont High, was the MWC freshman of the year last year, while Anderson enjoyed that honor this season. Anderson, an Alta High graduate, was also named the MWC setter of the year. Both players were key in the team's record-setting year in which the Utes went 28-4, including a 16-0 run in conference play. The Ute volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth consecutive season with no seniors on the roster. Whitehead is a 6-foot-4 sophomore from Mountain Crest High School who played in 19 games this year. She averaged about 5.3 minutes per game and averaged 1.5 rebounds and .7 points per game this season. The NCAA allows for a one-time exception to transfer rules, which require Division I athletes to sit out a year if they transfer to another Division I school, in all sports except football and basketball. Salvo and Anderson were not granted that exception, which is given at the discretion of the school student-athletes are leaving, so they'll have to sit out if they transfer to other Division I programs. All of the athletes have a redshirt year to use and are allowed to accept scholarships and practice during that ineligible season. They are only prohibited from competing

Obviously he or she is lying, wit only 4 posts......Don't beileve em'...just tryin to stir up some Sh*t.... We all have to start somewhere, might as well tell the truth in the beginning. No apologies are necessary. So where will they end up? If the reason they gave to the team about having Olympic aspirations is true then I hardly think that they would end up at Pacific. I don't know, but there has to be more to this story than some of the excuses that you read here.

It is odd that both are transferring knowing that they will be sitting out a year. I don't think they would be transferring on a whim for promises of better teammates and competition if they knew they have to sit out a year. It will be interesting to see where they transfer to.
