One might ask if Holloway couldn't start at Penn State, would she have been a starter at UCLA? If she wouldn't have started at UCLA would she be transfering out as a Jr. from there at this time? Nana left Duke as a starter, Daley left LBS as a starter, and Big West Frshman Player of the Year, it wasn't because they were sitting on the bench. They were promised nothing but a chance, and had to beat out, others to get the chance. I am just saying, most of you probably don't understand the heart that it takes to play at UCLA, Andy does not play favorites, everything is earned, he has sat many of starters, he gives everyone equal opportunity, you didn't see Sather put her head down and quit when he took her out of the starting rotation. You didn't see Daley do that either, they both just worked harder, and harder, because that is what they are made of. This board is for opinions, so if you choose to diminish the play of the other girls at UCLA by saying Holloway who has sat the bench most of her College carrear, will be taking there place, go for it. Sorry to say I am rooting for the girls that have already been working there butts off to get better in order to beat out a starter. The ones who could have transfered for the same reasons. Really no room at UCLA for girls who don't dare to think that they are the best. WORK HARDER TO GET WHAT YOU WANT, DREAM BIG, but there is no sympathy for you, if you want to quit because you think you should be playing and your not!

One might ask if Holloway couldn't start at Penn State, would she have been a starter at UCLA? A Big YES!!, come on, Holloway is not dumb, if she does not think that she has a better chance starting at UCLA though it is not guaranteed, she will not transfer there. She has reasons to believe so, At PSU, she will not beat out Hodge and Fawcett who were first team AAs, her competition for the last OH/Opp spot is either Brown, Price and maybe even Wilson. Brown is a top ten recruit and highly touted, Price led the team in kills her freshman year and Wilson is another top 10 recruits. UCLA's returning OH starters, Daley and Sather were not even first team all conf. Holloway definitely has what it takes to challenge them. If not, her competition for the last OH/Opp spot is Clements and McGraw and neither were top 25 players in their classes Just because some of us think Holloway could start at UCLA does not imply that we are diminishing the play of the other UCLA players, I do believe that the players worked hard for their starting position and Holloway will have to work hard to challenge for a spot, it would not fall on her lap. However, it is safe to say that no matter how hard she work at PSU, she will not have a realistic chance of starting unless someone or maybe 2 PSU players are injured

So I take it, this was UCLA's/Westwoods only competition this spring was to play at USA Open's?

So I take it, this was UCLA's/Westwoods only competition this spring was to play at USA Open's? As I understand it, that's the deal that allows them to go to the USA Open: they have to not hold other Spring matches. Ten or so matches in the course of four days though.... If your goal is to get playing experience with the new lineup, you get lots of it in those four days.

Did Meghan Schoen get a redshirt year when she tore her ACL? I hope she breaks into the starting lineup this season. She had some great matches when I saw her at MSU and I really think she has the potential to be an amazing player, but she got unlucky and has had to come back from an ACL tear. Not to mention she has one of the most unorthodox serves I have ever seen.

You think that just because someone is ranked going into College that it is set in stone? Everyone in Westwood hopes Holloway is the real deal, yet on the other hand we know how much progress Clements and everyone else has made, and if you think that Sather and Daley aren't as good as Fawcett and Hodge, I suggest you tell them that in person, neither one of those girls would ever think that there wasn't anyone they could not beat out. I can assure you that Andy made Zero promises to Holloway, so you see it has nothing to do with if she is smart or "{Dumb) as you say. As far as I am concerned if she thinks she can't compete with Hodge or Fawcett, she is not as good as you think. Competition is something that shows up, at any givin moment you should know that you can beat anyone.. Penn State is not in the Pac 10, making all conference is what then. Daley and Sather both made 1st team all conference as freshmen, what did Holloway do? UCLA is a team where everybody contributes, no matter how big or how small.

Ha! Ha! What a way to cause a distraction, I hardly think anyone is going to bite on that one. Not even close to being a relative.

Are you Ali Daley's Mother? That is funny, that was my thought exactly. I am guessing this is Daley’s mom…no coach or player would pontificate like this or even gives a crap about the ranting on this message board. Definitely a relative of a player at UCLA and it does sound like Ali’s mom!

Hello, I was just reading the board and decided to register so that if you think it is me posting you can call me by my real name, Janice Daley. It seems like many of you do not know it and I see know reason for you to keep smearing my daughters name when it appears that it is me you are talking about. I hope that this is not asking to much of all of you who think I am posting on this board. Thank you Janice Daley
