As I said in another thread.Nebraska fans are not happy with the absence of marquee names and Hawai'i is a marquee name.Throw in some incentives like free Husker Nacho Cheese Sauce and you got yourself a sell out.
Sometimes just the name alone can be the attraction that fills the seats just as Nebraska would be if they came to Honolulu, even if they stunk the SSC would be full.
For those of you that have never been to Nebraska this a great place to play and obviously Shoji isn't concerned about the present difference in the teams otherwise he would have never agreed to go there this year. Some teams would have even backed out.Besides I hear that the guarantee check is 6 figures...OK, I made that up.

Actually, the SSC has not sold out in a while, regardless of the marquee name of the opponent. Someone get the info on when the last time SSC sold out.

Interesting point- A response to Cindy Luis' blog brought up the issue of ticket prices. starbulletin.com/blogs/uhsportsextra/the-disappointment/#commentsIn fact, a lot has been discussed about how the ticket prices for many of Hawaii's athletic events have risen exponentially. There have been a lot of long time season ticket holders that have "lost" their seats because price increases. It's the price of progress when the school tries to improve its revenue stream by raising prices and charging for televised games with PPV but you kind of feel for the loyal fans that supported the school- especially during those lean years.

For the best reserved seats at NU they are $16 & the other reserved seats are $14. There are no $6-$8 seats. What very few GA seats there are cost $10.

My season seats for Wahine matches are $19.00 a ticket. Hawai'i has the priciest volleyball tickets in the country, and yet despite the ticket prices and home matches being televised, Hawai'i has lead the nation in attendance going on 13 years now. That is a testament to the success of the Wahine program.

At the rate the wahine are going with improvements, they'll have a good chance but only with a different L2. I believe in the DS show yesterday shoji mentioned that red shirting a player is simply up to them if they want to or not. Well, I guess Ferrell wants to be red shirted then. Unless DS recently made that rule official - then Ferrell is definitely starting. I really hope so.

The average cost of a single-family home here is $650,000. We're one of the highest costs of living in the country. What do you expect?

It irritates the heck out of me that the Oceanic/K5/UH conglomerate is charging $25 to watch this match on pay per view. If UH were playing better, I would suck it up and pay to watch. But I sure don't want to pay this much to watch them get slaughtered in seventy minutes. I'm going to be like Wolfgang...watch the 2002 Regional Final and pretend it's live. After a few brewskis, I won't know the difference.
