This may sound ignorant, but did anyone answer the question of Ferrell still being able to red shirt because she never made had an attempt? Or is she automatically in for the season when they put her on the floor? I've heard a lot of positive things about her but never got see her play. She might not be able to redshirt this season but I'm sure that she would be able to redshirt in subsequent seasons (other than medical redshirt) if she chose to prior to the start of the season, such as the redshirt year that Kahumoku took or the redshirt year that Arnott took last season. Consider this about being a redshirt player- the 2003 squad (Willoughby/Kahumoku/Duggins) practiced against a squad that had two redshirt players- Prince & Sanders- with Thurlby setting. No wonder DS was confident about the 2004 squad. Imagine practicing against 3 AAs all season. It ain't all bad. You're gonna gain some skills. (However, I do believe that Prince & Sanders were medical redshirts.) I believe that Gregory and Sanders redshirted in 03. Prince was redshirting at WSU.

Right. A player can take any of 5-consecutive seasons as a redshirt year. Prince was not at Hawaii in 2003. She was sitting out in Washington. Sanders and Gregory redshirted regular-like in 2003.

Way to say exactly what I said 10 minutes before. ;D

Thank you for pointing out the misinformation. I stand corrected- But my point is- Redshirting isn't necessarily volleyball purgatory.
