Might as well get the conversation going in the appropriate thread! I am sick, due to a death in my sister's in-law's family I will be unable to attend the match and probably won't get to see it on tv either. Thank god for TIVO.

I think this could easily by a 3 game sweep (by Nebraska, of course) and here's why:
Texas is the only rival Big 12 program since about 2003, so there will be a lot of Big Red intensity leading up to the match. The same can be said for the way Texas views Nebraska, and this year they have the ingredients to give Nebraska some real challenges (more or less depending upon Engle's status). Therefore, Nebraska will have to fight for separation until the upper teens, which is usually when the Longhorns have their slump since they don't ever really believe they can win it all. The fact that Texas is perceived as a threat will keep the Huskers motivated to push through to 30, instead of screwing around once they get a ten point lead or come into game three up an easy 2-0. Notice how there's nearly the same point differential between Nebraska/PSU (30-20, 30-21, 30-27) and Nebraska/Creighton (30-23, 30-18, 30-26)? Does that mean Creighton is as good as Penn State? No. It means Nebraska didn't try as hard against Creighton because they knew they didn't have to.
Therefore, paradoxically, the closer Texas plays Nebraska, the higher the likelihood that Nebraska will sweep.

Let me just say that if there was a death in my sister-in-law's family, I would not hesitate to miss the funeral. However, out of respect for the grieving, I would send a representative in my place.

I think Nebraska will sweep the Longhorns in this matchup. Texas looks like a team that doesn't have everything together at this point, and that isn't a good situation in which to be when trying to go to Lincoln and win. Also, I just think Texas tends to make too many mistakes, and you don't have too much margin for error against Nebraska. That said, Texas might be the most talented opponent that Nebraska will face this year, so the potential is there.

In the end I think Nebraska will face all the most talented teams in the country. They played, PSU, will play Tx twice, and appear to be on a collision course with Stanford to decide the whole enchilada.

Texas has never shown that they have the kuhunas to challenge Nebraska in the Coliseum. Especially a Nebraska team this talented. Especially a Nebraska team that takes them very seriously. Huskers sweep, -20 -23 -20.
Now, the match in Gregory is another story for another day...

Are Kahunas the Hawaiian word for Cojones?...tough match for the Horns, in Lincoln and short-handed does not equal a stellar match on paper, but if Hooker and Faucette can pound the ball and Texas's passing doesn't break down it could be closer than most people think.

I hope it is a great match. Hooker and Faucette can bring the heat. I would love to see some long rallies with amazing digs and fantastic transition plays.
With that being said, I have a feeling that this will be a sweep, but would like to see it go 5.

If there are long rallies and transition, that will favor Nebraska. Texas needs for it to be quick points. Nebraska in my opinion, although I have seen both play, is much more organized, and handles the ball much better than Texas. I think the athletes are a wash, but Nebraska's overall volleyball is better. Nebraska's OH's handle the ball better than Texas.

Agree with everyone's input. There are just too many if's for Texas (if Texas can pass, if Texas can execute) and too many definites for the Huskers that tip the scales their way. I just hope Texas doesn't shut down like a deer in headlights like they've been known to do in the Coliseum.

Is this match streaming online? I know that it is on CSTV and NETV (thanks FloridaPerson).

They are still learning how to play collegiate volleyball, while Huskers have nearly perfected it. If Longhorns can win one game, especially with Neb playing at a high level, then they at least have a moral victory.

99.999% of the time CSTV contracts are for exclusive broadcast rights. Schools can sometimes continue an existing contract with a local channel like NETV but are prohibited from streaming online.
