Great to read that Tom is returning to the national team (after very little hope of making it to Beijing on beach vball). When does Kerri Walsh join the team as a setter?

Great to read that Tom is returning to the national team (after very little hope of making it to Beijing on beach vball). When does Kerri Walsh join the team as a setter? As much as I want to see Kerri on the national team, I want her to play opposite Logan not setting. I'm so happy she's back!!!!

With Logan returning.... Olympic medal hopes for USA are looking up. Actually, this team is looking to be even better than the team from 2004.... much more depth.
The 2004 team had two outside hitters who were past their prime... and it showed!... and Metcalf wasn't nearly as good as she is now.
The 2008 team should have several players playing at the peak of their career.... Tom, Haneef, Metcalf, Bown. Nnamani, Wilkins, Joines and Glass continue to improve. (I'm still amazed at how well Glass played in the Grand Prix!) Two world class setters with Berg and Santos.
It is probably early to think of a starting line up, but based on recent performance. I could easily see Tom and Glass on the left, Bown and Scott in the middle, and Haneef back on the right. (Maybe metcalf depending on the opponent). The one weakness is a great libero. It will probably be Davis, but I just wish she were a little more consistent.

Please excuse my ignorance, but has USA qualified for the Olympics?

Please excuse my ignorance, but has USA qualified for the Olympics? USA has not yet qualified. NORCECA Continental Championship this week qualifies 2 teams for the World Cup in Japan. Top 3 teams in the World Cup earn an automatic bid for Beijing.

With Tom back, I hope they retain Haneef on the leftside and Metcalf as the Opp. I know that Glass may be a better passer than Haneef, but Haneef is a better terminator on high balls (when you have to hit above the blocks) and with Metcalf hitting on the right, the USC outside hitting positions will be much better.

BEST news in a long while. Tom is going to help USA a lot... although I'm positive this isn't how Tom wanted to get to the Olympics. Oh well, atleast she didn't join the USA soccer or water polo teams.
With that said, all of a sudden the USA outside hitting corps looks pretty solid. Setting has a solid 1-2 punch and Bown and Scott in the middle is one of the best combos in the world.
Now ... to find depth at middle and a decent libero!

Now, if we could have Glass and Tom on the OH and Haneef on the RS, with Bown and Scott. That would be good.

again....Metcalf...the leading international scorer of the team in the last few years left out of most of this pro pac conversation. How predictable.
