I am predicting a 3 way tie for third. I think UW is as secure at 2 as PSU is at 1. Dunbar COY, Harmotto POY, FOY Zimmerman. I love Harmotto and think she's a fantastic player. However, she's only averaging 2.85kpg in big ten play. Granted she is #1 in the conference in hitting %, and #2 in blocks, but her kills per game average is not that impressive for a POY candidate. She's also not in the top 10 in terms of pts per game in conference play. I think Hodge would have a better case from the PSU point of view. She's second in the big ten in pts per game @ 5.24. I might be a homer, but I think that Dolgner has an outstanding shot at being POY... she's averaging 5.0 kpg, hitting .285, over 2.25dpg and about .9 bpg. She's also leading the big ten in both kills (5.0) and points per game (5.67).

Some of this rests on the Badger's fortunes in the second half. A win in unHappy Valley wouldn't hurt..... Don't worry about being a "homer"....compared to keystone and his homerism, you're an amateur. It's always "Harmatto this, and Harmatto that".....

No question that Keystone is second in homerism only to Ruffda. And I say that with respect to both parties. Harmotto is fun to watch and Dolgner is a high-wire act, but my vote for POY goes to Badger setter Jackie Simpson. Simpson has been over-rated and at times a liability to the Badgers in past years. This year, she is the driving force and the best setter in the league. At the half-way mark, Simpson is Big Ten POY.

I'm dissappointed in Minnesota but I still think they will be a fun team to watch in the next couple years. The bigger question is how much longer will Iowa continue to pay their coach the money they are for those kind of results?

Both Hodge and Fawcett are hitting under .300 for the year, whill that be high enough to be POY? I think Hodge was under .300 last season too.
I think Alicia Glass should be considered too. Great setter, good blocker. She is instrumental in PSU's success, but always seems to be an unsung hero.

By the time we get through the second half I am guessing that only three Big Ten teams will be in the top 25. Haven't seen that in recent years. Leaving aside Penn State and Wisconsin which are the "real deal", I think there is a lot of mediocrity in the league this year. The only "good wins" in the league this year are against one of these teams. All the others I think can go either way on any given night. Take a look at the pathetic hitting percentages of both Northwestern and Minnesota in last weekends match. Sad!

How many of these mediocre Big-Ten matches have you been to this year? I've seen half a dozen, and the league is above average, not below.

Can you be a homer about a player? If you can than I guess I am. Not sure about what is so awful about having a favorite player. And again, it isn't like it is irrelevant. If your having a conversation about PSU, top weekly performers, POY candidates, that conversation involves her. Having said that, you act like I am running a name up a flag pole that doesn't deserve it. Christa doesn't get as many touches as I know PSU would like, but look at her overall stats, and look at her stats in big matches. I agree Dolgner is having a great year and is a strong candidate. This award will almost always go to the top player from the top team, in this case Harmotto. The exception is when another player is having a season that defies that, ie Stacey Gordon. I don't see that.

I don't see that. Keystone, don't be so sensitive. There's nothing wrong with being a homer. But it is a well known fact that you are a charter member and captain of the Harmatto bandwagon, and are generally the first to serve her name up when any type of awards are being discussed. So if the shoe fits, wear it with a smile......

I said something negative or awful about having a favorite player? If you could please direct me to that post I would appreciate it. If your saying you weren't being critical of my favoritism, that would be less honest than a certain MB whose name shall not be mentioned, saying she didn't touch a ball.
