"L" means loss....= not undefeated anymore....makes no matter where you play.

I could be convinced to flip Texas and Washington. But I think it's OK as is. Why so hard on UCLA, who is the only team to take a game off of Nebraska? Oregon State loss at home.....a very bad loss for a top five team.

If you really feel the injury to Nellie was the reason they lost, I don't get it. They have 3 other setters on the bench and it surprises me they didn't try someone not injured if it meant a loss..

Still....it was OSU, and it was home. The Bruins should have handled the non ranked OSU squad regardless of Nellie's injury...she played, didn't she?
Sorry, but that deserves probably more penalty than UCLA has received to date. Plus, they have four friggin losses already. C'mon, both UCLA and Cal were swept by Wisconsin at various times last season. I know it was in the past, but there are those who say UCLA was a much better squad last year. Meriweather was completely shut down by Reineke.
Let's put SOME perspective on the matter............

Have you seen the scorecard for this match? 29-31, 30-16, 27-30, 30-17, 13-15 UCLA outscore OSU: 129 to 109 That is HUGE parity. The stretches of points just came at the wrong time... when their leader wasn't holding her sword in the air yelling charge. I'm sorry, Spicer makes UCLA a Final Four team. Her limited playing really was the cause of this loss.

That _IS_ handling a team. 4-losses to: Pablo #1 nebraska, #2 Washington, #3 Stanford, and the loss to #52 OSU, that a healthy UCLA team wouldn't even blink at. Some? Who? Anyone with any vb knowledge? I can't compare UCLA to Wisconsin this year... just doesn't happen, but UCLA has a stronger SOS and bigger wins.

Every team puts the best players they have on the court, injuries are part of it.

Every team puts the best players they have on the court, injuries are part of it. Part of the poll is potential and knowing what the team is capable of, I'm sorry, but it's true. UCLA is more than capable of being in the Final Four with a soon-to-be-if-not-already-healthy Spicer. Having barely, barely, barely lost that match, I think they were overly punished.

Don't argue with IB. He is in love with UCLA. He'd never cut the same slack for another team -- say Wisconsin @ BYU.

Wisconsin is BYU's only good win. Besides, who wasn't playing for Wisconsin against BYU? Besides Wisconsin was outscored: 127 to 113.

I forgot, you're also a Hawaii fan, which explains the injury BS........

I think any team that beats Stanford on their home floor is more than worthy of being #2. Back in the day when Stanford wore red road unis, we used to think of them as the championship unis because there were always arguments like the above to seed them below the teams they ended up beating in the tournament. Until Stanford wins a championship in the black unis, I'm not ready to think of them that way. The Card has three unis (all long-sleeved) this year... white, black and red... but seldom use the red ones. Perhaps they'll save them ala Notre Dame's green unis for some big road or tournament match.

I think that its a forgiveable loss. If that's forgiveable, why isn't Stanford's loss to UW forgiveable? Some posters are handing UW #2, ignoring their non-conference record against the proverbial Little Sisters of the Poor.
