Does anyone know whay Virginia is only interviewing female coaches? Is it that all the applicants are female or that they just prefere women coaches? Male or female, UVA should hire the best coach that can bring talented players with great ability and drive to the next level. University of Virginia is the second ranked public university in the country, ranked only behind Cal. The are a Division 1 fully funded program shich attracts excellent student atheltes. With the right coach these players should be able to win a conference championship and get into the NCAA tournament each year. Charlottesville has been ranked as one of the top places to live in the country, especially for quality of life. This position is a gem if you can land it. Let's start with a proven track record.

The cynic in me says that they will pick Frderick because she has been in the Pac 10 and the Big 10. I think Appleman would be a great hire too.

Appleman may be a fine candidate, but I am surprised that a great school like UVA would have only females seriously considered; especially when the other 2 applicants mentioned have such bad reputations in the volleyball community. Kelly Sheffield and some of the other top coaches or assistants who do not happen to be females should have been considered. If there were not enough top quality candidates, I would hope that the hiring committee would do some serious calling and recruiting, before settling on such a poor short list.

Rita Crockett is a candidate. Nice search committee at UVA, they should change the name from Wahoo's to Yahoo's.

I know for a fact that there were outstanding candidates for this position. Clearly, the best of this field is Appleman from Yale.

I know miss Appleman and if she gets the job, I have no complaints. A good coach, strong background, etc. etc., certainly worthy of consideration.
If they go with Frederick or Crockett then I will enjoy laughing at them as I do NC State.

Well that interesting. I haven't seen the big east mentioned, but that pretty much has to be Holly Strauss, right? Maybe lessinger, I guess but that's got to be Strauss, who was an ACC player once upon a time.
Mo Val? Is that Bobbi?
