Anyone know the results of the WVC tourament? Pools should be out soon for nationals!! Lakeland defeated Oshkosh on Friday night to take a share of the regular season championship. Both teams finished 13-1 with one loss against each other. Oshkosh defeated Lakeland in the WVC Tournament Championship in 3 (best of 3).

Anyone know the results of the WVC tourament? Pools should be out soon for nationals!! I think the committee meets for the Tuesday night to determine final tournament seeding for pools. Unless your league commish lets you know, you prob won't know your pool until you check in and get your tournament packet. Should be some really good matches this year as it seems the Men's DI could be taken by any of about a half dozen teams. Good luck to all!

Competition Director indicated earlier this week that seeding meeting is today/Sunday. Could be changed, but I doubt it, they have to get all that stuff printed and assembled by Weds noon. Whether we see the pools on line before checkin....is another matter...

In the finals of the WVC Tournament: UW-Oshkosh def. Lakeland College, 2-1. It was a great match and could have gone either way until a controversial in/out call was made halfway through game three that didn't go Lakeland's way. (The line judge, who was a paid official, was overruled by the up ref on a very close in/out call.) John Erickson, RSH for UW-Oshkosh, was the tournament MVP. Joe Julkowski, OH for Lakeland, was the regular season MVP of the conference.
Marquette II def. UW-Oshkosh II in the Div. II championship. (Both teams will compete at NIRSAs in the Div. III championship and have a good shot at doing well.) Marquette II won Silver in recent years and UW-Oshkosh II is always near the top.
See everyone in Kansas City!!!

Whether we see the pools on line before checkin....is another matter... That may be. I've be extremely surprised if pools are posted online anytime before Wednesday night after coaches meeting or Thursday morning. I'm certainly interested in seeing who the top 4 seeds will be. I'm guessing Fresno, Illinois and Oshkosh will be up there. That 4th spot I don't know. Utah Valley played well at Las Vegas beating Fresno, but Arizona won their conference championship and a contender. Missouri is still an unknown with their only reported scores being from the Hoosier/Illini tournament win. Cal has been playing well, but got swept by Fresno in league championship. Sacramento State is up and down, swept a close match against Arizona and lost to Illinois in 1-2. Although both Cal and Sacramento may be gold bracket teams, I doubt they are top 4 material at the moment. Lakeland and Ohio State have done pretty well this year.

Lakeland and Ohio State have done pretty well this year. I don't know what Ohio State team we played then....we beat them 25-16, 25-8 at msu's back to the hardwood... i remember one of the outsides telling the setter "don't set me"

At this point, the name of the game is to show up and win your first day's pool. Everything else is just so much talk.

Virginia (1-2) Pool C: 1. #21 Navy (3-0) 2. #11 Va Tech (2-1) 3. Syracuse (1-2) 4. Maryland (0-3) Quarterfinals #21 Navy d. UPenn 2-1 #11 Va Tech d. Buffalo 2-0 Semifinals #21 Navy d. #19 JMU 2-1 #11 Va Tech d. #16 Penn State 2-0 Finals #11 Va Tech d. #21 Navy 2-0 (33-31, 25-21) Fun matches throughout the day. Both Navy/VT matches seemed to be the most fun. Both semifinals were good matches as Navy revenged a loss to JMU earlier in the season and VT defeated Penn State in a rematch of last year's EIVA championship. Is there an archives link on the NIRSA site to look at results and such of previous NIRSA Championships?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but every top 15 team has lost at least one match. I don't see everyone jumping on them about it. Every team is bound to have a bad match, just like every team has matches where they play better than they normally do.

True, but when you don't score in double digits against an average team it doesn't look too good in your pursuit of a Top 5 seed at nationals. Most the other teams are at least losing CLOSE games to HIGH caliber teams.
