EH, you gophers, I haven't looked at the current polls but is he going to win?

He's ahead, which is great. There's an independent candidate running, however, and that's going to factor into this.
I am not a fan of Norm Coleman.

Thanks!, I'm glad to hear that, I really want him to win. If he wins I doubt he ever does an interview with that idiot O'Reily.

That would be fun, wouldn't it?
Coleman has run a nasty campaign. They are focusing on SNL skits he wrote -- and even some that never made it past the "what about" stage. Then there were some tax issues where Franken paid taxes in the wrong states. It's ridiculous, really. What's been interesting is how serious Franken has been. I actually thought he'd use his sense of humor to his advantage.
Big debate coming up, but latest poll has him up about 10%, after being well down at the start of the campaign. He's probably been helped by Obama's surging numbers here, too.

Is this thread responsible for the "Meet Fun Jewish Singles Today" ad?

So when did Victoria Jackson turn into a crackpot?

Looks like Coleman is going to win, narrowly. That guy has led a charmed political life. When he lost to Jesse Ventura (Ventura for cripesakes!), he should have been toast. Then he runs for Senate, Wellstone dies, the Repubs cry about the memorial and he squeaks by Mondale. Now this.
I have nothing but contempt for this guy. He's as phony as a politician can be. A weasel of the first order.
And Bachmann is winning, too.
Sometimes this state just makes no sense.

I thought Al ran a nasty campaign as well. Overall, the two made it one of the most expensive senate campaigns in the nation, when you add in the national party contributions.
I have been a long-time Coleman fan and am hoping he pulls it off. I was a resident of St. Paul when he was mayor there and I liked a lot of what he did. That said, I thought the best of the three candidates was Barkley from the Independence Party.
I am depressed that Bachman won. Her last week of campaign blitz worked great. She had actually convinced people that her opponent was responsible for the 35W bridge collapse. I guess I don't understand people in my district.

I thought Franken ran a negative campaign -- and not a very good one -- but I wouldn't call it nasty. Coleman and his cronies were nasty -- until Norm made a big show of changing his tone (while the cronies still blasted away). The last week where he blamed HIS scandal on Franken was typical. Now he's talking about the bipartisan spirit. This is what I've always had against Norm: he's a political opportunist. Liberal to get started, Republican when it suits him, Bush-backer when it wins him an election, idealist when he's running for re-election.
What does he believe in besides his own career?

Difference is now 462. Coleman, of course, is asking Franken not to waste the taxpayers' money on a recount. Recount

I thought I read that the margin of victory triggered a mandatory recount?

It does, but apparently -- I don't know if Coleman is correct or not -- Franken can put a stop to it (as Coleman claims _he_ would do if in the same position).

We're talking over 1,200,000 votes for each candidate, and a margin of 462.

Now 336 votes -- and the recount hasn't even begun.
