Are there any top assistants that are ready to make the jump? Is Salima applying to places or is she content right now as the asst? I wouldn't think Salima would want to apply to MN unless her husband got a good IT job there or MN shows her the $$$. Her husband's job was the reason why she left PSU.

Whoever they hire as HC would be crazy to get rid of Nao. Regarding Hugh, if he ever wants to get to Minnesota to be near his wife's family this is the only job that I can think that would be a fit for him. Then again, maybe being near his wife's family isn't a priority. I believe she is going to have a baby so that's why I think she would like to get back to Minnesota. Maybe they would hire an interim to hold the fort down until Hugh is done with the Olympics in 2012. Wiz had the baby this past summer.

Christy doesn't leave unless it is to Nebraska. Although, with the money she is making at Ia St, you would THINK she could afford to have that Neb tattoo removed! haha

It is to my understanding that Scott and Nao's contract ends when Mike's does...as does with any head coach. The new head coach will decide to retain Nao and/or Scott. If hired, I would assume that Carlston would keep Nao (since she was there when he was a few years ago), but I'm sure he would bring his two assistants from tOSU. Didn't both of his assistants follow him from Ohio? Should be interesting...hopefully Minnesota will announce the hiring in mid-January since recruiting responsibilities will increase. Very interesting!!

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I just saw online that tOSU has a DVO too. I wonder if he would bring the entire staff? Should have done more research before I posted haha.

Since Nao has been with the University for over 10 years, she will be retained by the University for at least one year. It is possible she could be moved to another program but unlikely since her skills are around volleyball. I would hope that the new coach would retain Nao.
Scott's contract will expire on 3/15 unless he is hired as the HC or retained by the new HC.
Should Carlston be offered and accepts the MN job, would one of his current assts be in line to take over the OSU job?

They arent going to get a top coach, and dictate who they can or cant have on staff. Zero chance an OSU asst would get that job, neither are remotely qualified for a job on that level.

If it's Scott, he'll be looking for assistants. Laura is getting out of coaching, I hear.Laura Bush is coaching for a new club team in the Twin Cities this year and just started offering individual lessons and small group training sessions as well. She committed to coaching at the club a few months ago, so I'm guessing she was aware of Hebert's plans at that point (or saw the writing on the wall).

She doesn't need a volleyball job.

It depends what CJ's goals are. Like most coaches she is a very competitive person. I think she has taken the ISU program as far as it can go. She will never be able to recruit elite level athletes from outside Iowa to come to Ames like you can at Minneapolis. She can't get her current program to the Final Four due to various factors that she has no control over. Also, don't be so sure she would just sit at Ames and wait for Cook to leave. First, Cook isn't leaving anytime soon and second don't be so sure she would be the front runner for the job at NU. Nebraska will have a new AD in the next few years and you never know what that person will look for in a coach. The point made earlier in this thread about the possibility of the Big 12 breaking up is a very real possibility. Money drives everything and the Big 12 cannot survive for more than 3-5 years under the current leadership. I don't know if CJ is the answer at Minnesota or not but I do know it is a much better long term situation than she has at Ames.

Great observations. In a lot of ways Minny is the perfect fit for CJ. A lot of things clicked just right for ISU since CJ got there and it may be great timing for her to make the move. I don't think she will just sit and wait for Neb to open and probably the only two options she would consider outside of Neb. are Minn. and Wisc.
