I think all you club guys using this as your version of Myspace.com should just jump in the sauna together after your match and rub oil all over each other. This coming from the same tool who has other posts all over this board that smack of having nothing better to do. Stay out of this thread.

Haha. You club guys are so prissy.
Get over it.
Seriously, though. Look into a Myspace page. The scores, match reports, and team assessments on this thread are good. The "Buffy sucks...the team carried his ass last year" and the "Omg...we SO have to go do something together after the tournament next weekend, I'll get Chadwick to come along too" posts probably better on Myspace. Plus you can link all the youtube.com videos you want of those career hits against Shebogian College and the University of Patooka, and like GIRLS will want to be on your Friends list and stuff. ;D

Agreed, any Cal-Santa Clara match is going to be a good match. Far Westerns is going to figure out a ton of stuff out west. Lots of good teams will be here. While the line-up isn't as impresive as the HI, there are still quite a few ranked teams, so some sorting out will be done out here as well.

It's interesting how nobody from Marquette or Lakeland have posted today, after Lakeland choked against Oshkosh and Marquette choked against everyone.
The boards are a quiet place without the unfounded smack talk...

MU had a bit of a rough day if you want to call it that, although they almost beat OU in 3 but lost by two in the third. LC had a bit of an easy day and just had a rude awakening when they played OU and just ended the day poorley with no intensity and wasnt a good showing of volleyball especially from a program like LC. Still no news on the Big 10 tourney?

It was a very rough day for Marquette. We played with no emotion or intensity the entire day. It seemed like after that tough loss to Oshkosh in the 3rd game, 18-16, the team didn't care anymore after that. We were a few breaks away from going 4-2. We had leads in the 3rd game against NIU, Oshkosh, and Lakeland, but just couldn't put it away. Couldn't finish the game. It was frustrating as hell. We were close in all of them..already mentioned Oshkosh, lost 17-15 to NIU in the 3rd and 16-14 to Lakeland. Don't want to make any excuses, other than there was no emotion and we didn't play well. The only bright spot is that as terribly as we played, we were still close and right there with all the teams. I don't think we're overrated. All teams have bad days, and Saturday just really wasn't our day.

I heard some whisperings that NIU beat Lakeland, Oshkosh and Marquette already. Why is nobody talking about them if this is the case? Everyone wanted to dismiss NIU--Now, the Lakeland "win" was really a split at the Marquette tournament (per NIU's website) and counted as a "win" based on point differential, +1. However, at the very least, they can compete with the big boys and showed it saturday. Looking at the scores (preliminary, posted on NIU's website right now), it appeared the one thing found from the day was that anybody can beat anybody. Illinois State looked good at times (beat Marquette/close vs Notre Dame, Lakeland) and bad at times (throttled by NIU, beat by Ball State). Same with NIU (ugly loss vs Iowa State). As for Marquette, it might be a case of a hangover from a tough loss to Oshkosh in the first game of the morning. They opened with Oshkosh, went 3 long games and came out on the losing side, and then immediatly lost to Notre Dame. Then they played NIU at home and lost another heartbreaker, as they were serving for the match at 14-13 in the third, put it in the net and didn't get another point. Not to make excuses for them or anything, but those kinda close games can mindf*** a team, especially a younger team. Will be interesting to see how things play out at the HI and second play day.

Big Ten: Illinois goes undefeated, losing only one game in the MSU match. Wisconsin loses twice; Ohio State, MSU, and Indiana follow. Not sure of all the results, but everyone lost at least twice, except for Illinois.

Everything after the top two spots in the Midwest 10 is open. Oshkosh and Lakeland were the top two teams hands down. Say what you want about Chad, but he has improved that team. Their on court communication has picked up greatly and that alone has cleaned up a lot of the mistakes that plagued them in the preseason. All the talk about Oshkosh slipping is wrong. JT, as amazing as he was, was not the centerpiece of that team. Losing someone who can hit a two ball out of the backrow is a huge loss, but I think this makes them work a little harder. They can win when they want; if they're in a generous mood, they'll let you get to a third game (thanks for a little extra time on the court guys) but they'll put it together and finish you off. The appearence of Lakeland must have been some kind of steroid for them because the first game was over before I could drop the kids off at the pool. The next time Lakeland and Oshkosh play I expect a much closer match. I know I'll make sure to be there from the start. NIU, thanks for hosting, thanks for the afterparty.
