Arizona is only impressive if they still have that 60 year old playing for their team.

I was just saying its fun to play against teams from a different region. Not talking about Arizona specifically. I also remember Arizona being a good team at nationals, not great just good.

This is a list of some teams that are serious possibilities to be at the HI Classic (Most are confirmed). Arizona, Penn State, Central Florida, Virginia Tech, and then the Midwest Teams that usually come, to include Marquette, Oshkosh, Lakeland, Michigan State and Illinois (of course). Texas A&M and Colorado may come, they have in the past, and there are a couple more far-west possibilities. If so, this will be the best HI field ever, and thats saying alot. Oh and a link that works, without the period!!! www.indiana.edu/~imvbc/pages/hiclassic.html

So why are people so impressed with MSU? bronze at nationals last year and getting bounced out of their cake-walk side of the bracket at their own tourney? come on now. Can't hate on Sante though, dude knows how to party.

Watching MSU play, one has to be impressed by their blocking. They are a big team. They have consistent hitting, but from what I've seen and heard, they have lacked the ability to just go out and play ball and beat up on teams.
Two years ago when Marquette won it all, every player that stepped on the court knew they were going to win, and I'm sure the Arizona teams of the past and Oshkosh of last year had that same instinct. Yes, in a way it is cocky, but I think you need to have that. You can't approach every match thinking, "well, they could upset us" or "if they keep it close, people will question our ability." You just have to go out and do what you do.
MSU has the leadership and the players are there to win. They have something to prove after last year and a mediocre pre-season this year. Sante will have them ready

Are the big name teams playing in any tournaments in the next week or two? I know theres a few tournaments around, but not sure whos playing what.
As for MSU, getting bounced from their own tournament in the first round by ISU leaves them with something to prove for the spring. Not saying they can't/won't be a great team, but I can't put them in the elite class yet.

interesting addition to the club scene....Cal got an inquiry for a match from Boise State who are doing a California swing in late Jan/early Feb. socal and norcal. They have a MB 6'10" apparently from LA, but am having no luck running down anyone who has seen the team play. We are playing them at Berkeley Thur Feb. 1....they are in socal before that. Usually when club teams take a large trip, they feel they have some talent...so we'll see.

2-10.... Illinois, Lakeland, Maryland, Marquette, Arizona, Michigan State, Wisconsin Madison; not really in a any particular order but thats whos gonna be there im guessing.
I don't know much about the west-coast teams, but im sure some of them will be there. Possibly the Navy with the two OH returning? How did Madison do at nationals last year? im not quite sure about them being up there, but they got the will to win.

My guess is that Arizona would be #2, followed by Illinois and Lakeland, Penn State for winning hardwood, Wisconsin and Notre Dame will be up there for going to the semi's, maybe UCLA??? Mark it down though, Oshkosh/Marquette January 30th at Marquette, arguably one of the tougher places to play.

Marquette is not the team they were last year. I'd put it all on Oshkosh.

Marquette was not that impressive in the fall. The All-Boys Badger Bump-around is going on Feb 3rd for early tourneys. The field is already set, and includes Oshkosh, Milwaukee's Best, and some other solid teams. The badgers were ass at nationals last year. In order to go far this spring, Lakeland needs to sack up on the leadership. They've got the talent to go far, as do most teams in the midwest. Word to your mother...
