+1 Even RR supposedly told a recruit "You know you can't date him." (meaning Hambly). Which recruit was that? I assume someone who is not at PSU (maybe). You'd have to ask RR or the poster I heard this from.

Oh give me a break. Nowhere did I make excuses for USC. All this chest thumping from some Illini fans is hilarious. The Illini beat USC in 5 games, they did not sweep the Women of Troy. It was a good match, be happy instead of whining over what you feel is a lack of respect. I'm not sure if you have anyone else specific in mind, but please try to forgive smiley. He may get riled up fairly easily, but I'm pretty sure he means well. Personally, I'm thrilled about the outcome of an excellent match between two very good teams. Jupiter was awesome at times offensively, especially when she got on that roll in the 4th. (And she was deserving of POY in my humble opinion.) Hagglund was amazing the whole way through. I hadn't seen all that much of USC during the regular season, but I'll have to make it a point to watch more in the future just to see her play. Williams was strong for good parts of the match as well. On this night, Illinois just had a little more depth to their attack, a little better serve receive, and played a little better at the end of a couple sets. But either team would have been more than worthy of playing UCLA for the title tomorrow. Also, to any Nebraska fans in attendance who may have left before the Illinois section started the post-match "Thank you, Huskers!" chant, I'd just like to echo that sentiment here. You guys were great when we visited The Coliseum and again last night with the display of conference solidarity. (Especially for being the newcomers who might not have gotten much support from other teams' fans in your inaugural season.) We'll see you again tomorrow and hopefully the Illini can beat another tough Pac 12 team to finally bring home a championship for the Big 10 from somebody other than Penn St for once... Looking forward to Saturday's match and to cheering for the Illini again! We heard the Illinois fans thank us and that was awesome! Hope the national title stays in the B1G!

The B1G has a number of years to catch up to Pac-12. But, should that happen, I hope that B1G posters learned what not to do from the west coast posters' haughtiness.

Jeezmo, Liz McMahon, that 6'6" OH for Illinois, is just a freshman. That young lady has a scarey upside. By the time she's a senior-------LOOK OUT!!!! I was pretty impressed with her. She has gotten a lot better through the year and as other posters have pointed out, she kinda looked like Blair Brown a little in this match. Her blocking and hitting have been mentioned but I thought she handled some of those free balls pretty well too, especially towards the end of the match. It seemed like USC had to push a couple over and were targetting her. She got off the net and overhand passed them right up to the setter and high enough to allow the setter to get there from the back row.

The picture is starting to fade NitLeLium. Hambly and Sealy are a lot prettier, and you know girls are attracted to pretty. Hambly will be the one who fades next season when he loses those seniors. I thought this would be a down year for Illinois after they lost an All-American outside, an all big-10 setter and a strong middle hitter from last year's team. Hambly is proving himself to be a strong coach and he's sitting on one of the two richest volleyball recruiting areas in the nation -- and is taking advantage of it. Don't forget, too, that they have a proven starting OH sitting on the bench in Orozco. They aren't going away next year.

Illinois won't finish better than third in the B1G next year. Illinois tied for 2nd/3rd/4th this year. Those other top three teams could all be better in 2012. Hypothetically, Illinois could be an even stronger team next year and still finish in 3rd. So your point is....

Yes, I know, and I originally prefaced my question with "I don't know why I'm even bothering to respond..." Many of them have a pretty hard time digesting facts and sound logic, though, and if you're careful not to give them anything else, some of the smarter ones will just give up and look elsewhere for sustenance. I've been observing the specimen in question from afar for a while now, but never had an up-close encounter, so this was merely an experiment to help determine the nature of this particular species for future reference. I promise not to make a habit of it.

It's almost as stupid as "mangos" and "bananas" It's easier to type B1G and writing Big-10 seems more stupid since there are now 12 teams.

It's easier to type B1G and writing Big-10 seems more stupid since there are now 12 teams. Admittedly it is easier than typing the Big-I-can't count-to-11-or-is-it-12-now? But it does make it look like a bunch of 11-or-12 year-olds posting on here... (tee-hee!)
