Of course Brazil's floats are good, anyone can see this. As a spectator and fan, I want to see more jump serves. I don't think any of them could even be considered hybrids either. That's endemic to the women's game, not just Brazil. I can't think of a national team that has more than two jumpservers on it (the Russian and Brazilian starters both have none, IIRC), and most have one or none. Germany, probably the best serving team out there, only has 1 in the starting 6. If you back a decade or so there were far more women's jump servers than there are now but it never seemed to have the same type of effect that it does in the men's game. Women tend to struggle with consistency more with their jumpserves and the jump float has proven to be just as effective with a lower margin for error. Brazilians had Paula P, Sassa, Erika, and Jaqueline jump serving and Russia had Gamova, Artamanova, Godina, etc jump serving. Even Heather Bown used to jump serve.

...Even Heather Bown used to jump serve. That was rough! I've never seen anyone allowed to miss more serves than Bown in those years. It was like they were giving their opponent a free side out every 6th rotation. It was a huge relief when she finally went to a jump float she could hit in the court. ;D

Why is there such fascination with jump serves? I guess many people would rather see "flashy" instead of "effective."

Wait - so in the Puerto Rican league, playoff teams can just grab players off of teams that didn't qualify? Is there some sort of procedure or order, like a waiver wire in U.S. pro sports? Seems, well, more than a little bush league. Kidder was off of contract (Since her team's season was over) and any team that had a slot for a foreigner available was free to bid on her. Similarly, as European pro seasons end, you'll see others get picked up (such as Van Orden by Catano or Alisha Glass getting picked up by Mayaguez when her team folded). I'm not sure when the transfer deadline is, but everything is fair game before then. It's really unstable for foreigners in PR. They get fired pretty easily. F.ex. Alex Jupiter had to go home to make way for Kidder. ALSO IF THE FOREIGNER GETS INJURED THEY CAN SUB HER FOR A NEW ONE.... OR IF THEY KNOW THEY ARE GETTING SOMEONE FROM A TEAM THAT IS ABOUT TO GET ELIMINATED THEY FIRE WHO THEY HAVE

Kanani Danielson ended up leading the Japanese League in scoring for the 2012/13 season. Danielson is a promising player who must to be tried out on the national team this summer for sure.
