Against who ? Italy, Brazil ? Priddy is 6'5 and has a hard time killing the ball. Doesn't matter anyway, OH will not be open in the next quad Giba is 6'4" and Murillo is 6'3"

after i saw us blow opportunity after opportunity on that first set i knew it was all over. this team has been so up an down it's just sad they couldn't just move past losing a set. they just dont have the swag of that 08 team. the setter position, the coach, and the passing have been the biggest issues of this team in my opinion. alot of them they have not played with confidence and confidence is huge in the mens game. cant wait to see what usa volleyball comes up with in terms of staff.

Our 6'3 guys are as good as Giba or Murilo ? Wow that's awesome, can't wait to see them dominate internationally for the next decade.

But I'm talking about our young USA guys, and I believe you are too.

Yes, and the fact that outsides who don't have a lot of size can be successful in today's game is relevant, because you brought it into question. Is Sander as good as Murilo? Not right now, he'll probably never be a ball control, every facet of the game type like Murilo is, but the dude can bang. He has crazy hops and a live arm, great server, and he's only 20. Will he be the next great Team USA outside? Who knows. But he's got the potential.

Time for the new blood. Roll with 1 libero, use the extra pin hitter for a serving sub. Mighty fine 12.
MB-Lee MB-Smith MB-Holt OH-Anderson OH-Sander OH-Ciarelli OH-Clark OH-Lawson OH-Troy S-KShoji S-McKibbin L-EShoji

Also interesting to see you put Holt in there above Holmes. I'd think Holmes would be in over Smith at least.

Shoji is.

knipe is definitely returning to long beach state this august, so will not be returning for another olympic quad...
which leads to the question that doesn't have a great or clear answer: who is the next men's hc? if karch isn't offered or doesn't accept the men's gig (hugh has said he'd like karch to be his replacement on the women's side), what true candidates are really out there? speraw is out for the forseeable future with his new ucla gig. ron larsen is a fine coach, but if he wasn't chosen after 2008, what makes him a better candidate this time around? did shawn patchel get a sort of try-out as hc of the pan-am team that won gold in july?
if you give it some thought, there aren't a whole lot of folks with appropriate int'l experience (at least within the usa) to choose from. this could be an interesting search for beal

I think McKibbin is going to progress big time in the next 2-3yrs if he continues with his current arc/pro exposure. David Lee will be our vet/aged MB, no need for 2 (Holmes an Olympic rookie but same age as lee). Smith will be 31yo, Holt will be 27yo.
