Mosher is amazing, and should be the ACC's top libero after Duke's Ali McCurdy graduates

Yes, Sarah Burrington 6'5 MB was recruited early on by Stanford and many many other top D1 programs. She was one of the top Middles out of the 2012 class. Prep Volleyball #15 Senior Ace. it will be exciting to watch her this fall after having had the entire 2012 season to train and adjust to the D1 college game.

Sulo: I believe FSU-UNC-Miami will be fighting it out all season come fall 2013 for that top spot. UNC impressed me a lot towards the end of the season when they moved to the 6-2. What are your thoughts on line up for 2013? Who did UNC graduate? Who is coming in?

UNC loses OH McGee, Setter Harms and Middle Gaften,( and they will be missed) but has strong, experienced returnees at every position: Middles McPherson and Neuenfeldt; OH Andrew and Berringer; RS Nelson, Setter Schnabel and libero Taner. They had a top 10 recruiting class last year, but I am not familiar with this years class. It should be a real battle next yer.

FSU is definitely on the rise, but I need to see a little more from them before I put them in that top echelon of teams. Poole did have a significant international element, but when you're trying to grow a program that doesn't have much history, that's a very good way to go about it. Stepanova, Djurdevic, and Duzceler were key parts of that Final 4 run and helped give this team some name value nationally.
The ACC is such a weak league outside of FSU, Miami, and maybe UNC. It makes it hard to gauge just how good FSU really is. To their credit, they did play a decent non conference schedule, but I think they need to play and beat a couple good Big 10 or Pac 12 teams before we can say they're a top 10 program.

UNC performed well out of conference. They were 26-6 overall and 10-2 outside the ACC losing only to Kentucky opening night and @ Iowa State in 5(16-14) at Ames in the NCAA. They alson defeated Pac-10 school Cal in the Tourney.

They alson defeated Pac-10 school Cal in the Tourney. Cal was way down this year. The only reason they even made the tourney at .500 is because they're Cal. Looking at the Heels non conference schedule, the best win they had was a 5 setter over Santa Clara. They also beat Long Beach (see other thread on this topic), Utah (bad Pac 12 team) and LSU (bad SEC team) as far as teams of note. If you wanna be seen as serious, play and beat somebody in the top 25 out of conference.

I see, every team they beat was BAD(according to you). How about Miami(Fla) and how about FSU? Santa Clara was good and UNC also beat TWO Pac-10 teams. They had a RPI,Pablo and ACVA ranking of 26( Out of 330 or so D-I teams. They took top 20 ranked Iowa State to 5 tough sets on the road infront of a hostile crowd in th NCAA only to lose a heartbreaker 16-14. No wonder you think they are not a serious team worthy of your consideration or praise. This anti-ACC pablum sure gets old.

In 2012, FSU swept Florida, Houston and Tennessee in three sets. They beat Iowa State and Ohio State in pre season in 4 sets.
In 2011 they defeated Purdue in the Sweet 16 and Iowa State in the Elite Eight to get to the Final Four. All pretty good teams outside the ACC..
Credit to Coach Poole- he does know how schedule very well non conference to maximize RPI and put his team in the best possible matches to play the best. This is important as you noted above to gain credibility as a potential Top Ten contender in 2013

UNCs MB, Neunenfeldt was a monster in the middle for UNC in her freshman year 2012. she will only get better and better with experience and more muscle on her. I looked up the 2013 recruits- looks like they are bringing in a 5'9 setter for 2013- so maybe staying with the 6-2 offense in 2013? It did serve them well last seaaon.

Kevincochran - not sure who you are but if you look at non conference schedules of FSU-UNC and Miami I think you will see that all scheduled pretty well non conference in 2011 and 2012 for the very reason you noted. To be in contention for a Top Ten team you have to beat top teams in the Big 10 and PAC 12... What conference do you favor?

In club she plays 6 rotations, setting from the back row and hitting across the front.

FSU recruited a good one in 6'0 setter Hailey Luke for 2013. Looking forward to see how she transitions to the college game. Much different than high school and club ball.
Coach Poole runs the 6'2 offense-so using both Sarah Wickstrom and Hailey Luke in that system will be strong.
Time will tell but 2013 may prove to be one of the best teams yet !

Coach Poole runs the 6-2 offense when he has a setter/s that can't block. His teams at Arkansas typically were 5-1. He will run whatever system best suits his personnel.

I honestly don't think Coach Poole will run a 5-1 in 2013. Even with Hailey Luke being 6'0 - that does not replace the big right side hitter offense he has been running at FSU. Look at that right side possibility- Senior Elise Walch at 6'5, Then the other possibilities are 2013 recruit, 6'3 Izzy Carmona, Nicole Walch at 6'3 and Mara Green at 6'2.. No I don't see Hailey Lukes hitting / blocking from the front in college not with that wall he has on the right side. I may be eating crow come fall 2013 but Poole knows what he doing
